‘The Magisterium is out of touch with the lives of modern Catholics.’ I disagree with this statement; firstly because the whole point of the Magisterium is to ensure that the teachings of the church are updated, therefore meaning that they are always correct. Without them the Church’s teachings would be irrelevant, thus meaning they must be in touch with the lives of modern Catholic’s in order to interpret the Bible for them. Secondly, the Magisterium provides set of clear guidelines for Catholics on how to behave and what to believe. How would they be able to deem what is right, and wrong if they were out of touch with today’s society, and problems. Thirdly, they can address issues that did not exist in the time of the Apostles.
The philosopher Søren Kierkegaard (1813-1855) was one of the early founders of existentialism. Although Kierkegaard was a devout Christian, he rejected the Christian Church due to its legalistic nature and the false relationship that people were receiving with God as a result. Kierkegaard believed that the key relationship of an individual was with God. He argued that God has given people freedom to make their own decisions and therefore our decisions are not determined. He thought that our existence is not something determined rationally or part of an on-going process but that it is something specific which is created through the choices we make.
14 November 2012 Rebuttal to Brittney Baker’s “Same-Sex Marriage and Religion: An Inappropriate Relationship” The movement for the legalization of same-sex marriage has today become a prominent part of western culture. Twenty or thirty years ago the idea was virtually unknown (Lewis 33). This was due to the fact that American society was predominantly influenced by Christian values. Over the years non-Christian values have gradually replaced Christian values. In addition, there has been a growing emphasis placed on equal rights.

This is not the case. This is America, and people have the right to believe what they want. But no one has the right to use a government-run, taxpayer-supported institution, such as the public school system, as a vehicle for evangelism.
We campaign for peace amongst nations but that could never happen because we are too self-centered to actually agree to such a belief. Humans want to stick to their comfort zone or as some call it their “personal
"Creature" has its literal meaning of "a being created by God," and "idol" connotes a "false god." After the truth about Rochester's marriage to Bertha Mason is revealed, Jane pays for having turned away from God. Quote #1"He is not to them what he is to me," I thought: "he is not of their kind. I believe he is of mine; – I am sure he is, – I feel akin to him, – I understand the language of his countenance and movements: though rank and wealth sever us widely, I have something in my brain and heart, in my blood and nerves, that assimilates me mentally to him. […] I must, then, repeat continually that we are for ever sundered: – and yet, while I breathe and think I must love him."
To her, the religious laws were more important than the governmental laws she was being asked to follow. Antigone and Creon would never see eye to eye on which law ultimately should be followed because of their own individuality. While Antigone had to pay the price for disobeying the governmental law, she ultimately had the right to give her brother a proper burial. One of the main themes in the play Antigone is Civil Disobedience. Often society has laws that individuals feel are immoral, or unjust.
(USA Today, 2003) Santorum went on to say "The ultimate objective here is to drive faith out of the public square, to drive morality out of the laws of this country, to secularize our society with a different set of values. "(USA Today, 2003) found in the (Huffington Post, 2011) Here are some things that people feel are reasons for not legalizing gay marriages also, found in an essay by: Scott Bidstrup, 2009. 1. Marriage is for procreation, 2. Same-sex couples aren't the optimum environment in which to raise children, 3.
writes, "The church's singular failure in recent decades has been the failure to see Christianity as a life system, or worldview, that III governs every area of existence.” He goes on to say that “our failure to see Christianity as a comprehensive framework of truth has crippled our efforts to have a redemptive effect on the surrounding culture. At its most fundamental level, the culture war is a clash of belief systems…Only when we see this can we effectively evangelize a post-Christian culture, bringing God's righteousness to bear in the world around us.” As a nation, we no longer accept the truths that our predecessors did. Instead, what we have today is moral relativism, and there is no right or wrong, no good or evil. Moral relativism teaches that we are all products of the evolutionary process, there is no God and no plan or purpose for our lives, and we all have our own truth. It teaches that we are all basically
Such discrimination towards same sex marriage originates from religious beliefs. Many religions believe that our Creator made the man and woman to be together and there is no other way around that. Therefore, these couples are committing a sin that should not be rewarded with the right to wed. The state is also falling in this trap and so, they are not able to analyze the situation clearly. They easily skip over the fact that the rights of these people are being violated.
