Envy, Good or Bad? All people in the world experience a feeling of wanting to have what someone else has or be who someone else is; this is called envy. Envy is a part of human nature. People of today’s world feel unhappy when someone else receives the latest phone or video game. Envy has led to various cruel and inhumane actions such as the Holocaust during World War II. This feeling of discontent and longing, aroused by someone else’s possessions, qualities, or luck, has come to ruin human nature and has brought destruction to particular ethnic and religious groups. In some countries, envy has led to the dehumanization of its inhabitants. During the 1940s, the Jews were the victims of both hatred and envy. The Jews were forced out of their homes, separated from their families, and put in concentration camps working in intolerant conditions for the Nazis. As a result of his envy, Adolf Hitler saw the Jews as a threat to his political party (the Nazis) and his country (Germany).
