According to the New Rightâs beliefs, the role of education is to instil drive, initiative and enterprise. The New Right believe this will come from competition between schools and colleges, motivating teachers to improve standards and providing parents and students with a choice of schools and colleges. The New Right see them as being similar to functionalists and they believe in the freedom of the individual with less central control. They believe in free market principles within education with a desire to reduce public spending, they also believe that education as an important part in the process of socialisation. They believe that education can help socialise children through religious assemblies, the National Curriculum and citizenship lessons.
People were so upset because they were afraid that sending troops to Iraq would take the focus off of Afghanistan and the mission to find Bin Laden. Seeing the way that people just turn against and decide that they want to kill innocent people just does not make since. Looking at this serious situation, many people see that the September 11th attacks badly because it was more of a modern day situation. Also it was in the United States, which we live in. The attack was a very tragic and hurting time in American history.
Many people, especially Americans, believe that Germany killed the passengers on the Lusitania for no apparent reason. Now, the government of America tries to call the incident a horrible mistake. Germany did not, however, completely act in error. Surprisingly, the Lusitania had many dark secrets. Germany sunk the Lusitania because
Secretaries, businessmen, mothers and fathers. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by despicable acts of terror. Most Americans remember where they were when the series of malicious events occurring, and the feeling of shock they had when it was first heard on the news. On that day most citizens were scared for their lives and the lives of loved ones involved in the attack. It wasn’t until three or four years later people started to ask questions about who was behind the events.
Lemon continues by saying that “building a mosque at Park 51 is an extraordinary circumstance” and this is a very heated issue because many people lost their loved ones on 9/11. Patel mentioned that Muslim Americans were also amongst those who lost their loved ones but many Americans only seem to forget this and focus on the other religions victims. Incorporating what Lemon has said, it seem like he doesn’t want the mosque to be built next to ground zero because Muslim were apart of the 9/11 attack. Just because a small group of Muslims blew up the twin towers doesn’t mean that all Muslims are evil and heartless and they should be punished by refusal of constructing a mosque near ground
Society may say that having a person’s limbs ripped off is cruel, but so is cyber bullying. The population would prefer a more non-violent approach to this issue such as, seminars to make parents teachers and children more aware. When it comes to handling bullying, America is all talk. The Americans say that we live in a nonviolent world, yet we promote this kind of violence by showing it in television shows and movies. Each state in America has different laws and punishments with cyber bullying; some states don’t even have laws for cyber bullying.
The true war story has no moral; ask one’s self, “Is war truly moral? How is killing others justifiable by society or god and how is it moral?” Citizens, as well as most frontline soldiers, try to find this moral to soften the cold hard truth of it all; While they try to soften the blow of reality, the stories lose their truth, they are bent, they are “skewed” as O’Brien would say. It is simply another way to lose a true war story. The last way of telling a true war story is through belief. O’Brien stated: “It comes down to gut instinct.
With new information being produced in today’s world we begin to create an ignorant society because no one gets the full truth, but society should have the right to pick what they want to see as well as gain more information on. Without getting the full truth from the information we receive from the media, society becomes ignorant because our reactions toward various groups of people start to change, and individuals start to make assumptions about others. The main reasons the government claims to have censorship is for profanity and whether is appropriate or not, but we are taught from a young age right and wrong and if one feels that what they are about to see is inappropriate for them they should turn off the television or shut down whatever they are on. ‘if your parents don’t want you seeing pornography on the web, they can install software to block suck items’ (Widdowson, 1997) Many would agree with this statement because it is true, if a parents isn’t ready for their child to see certain thing they can put barriers to block that information, they do not higher power to feed them half full information because that is not any better, the children will just become more ignorant by the second. Secondly when it comes to crime because everything is censored the news is pretty one sided, because in today’s society when it comes to crimes the media mostly focus on minority groups.
I hate to say this, but a couple of my mom’s brothers and sisters are racists. After September 11, my family became extremely racists and it was to the point that they could not stand to look at anyone who came from the Middle East. I think that was wrong of them because half of those who came to America from the Middle East came here to get away from all of the violence there. They should be able to come here with open arms knowing it is safe. Yes September 11 was a sad day for us all and I think that is when the racist profiling began to start up again.
