Mackenzie Tsalickis English 102 Spring 2013 iCourse SLN # 12947 7 April 2013 World Poverty and Hunger World poverty and hunger is a serious problem that has affected the world for as long as anyone can remember every country, no matter how rich or poor every nation has people who struggle with poverty and or hunger. “ Over three billion people live on less the $2.50 a day” (Causes of Poverty). Although here is no complete solution to this worldwide problem, there are some causes that can be addressed to further improve the current situations. Some causes of world hunger and poverty include war, corrupt governments, inefficient agricultural practices, weather change, population growth, poor infrastructure, and lack of education. The first step to solving the big problems in our world is accepting areas in which we have failed in. With a better understanding of these issues, the global community would be able to work together to begin to maintain a higher quality of live on our planet. Civil wars and World Wars have caused mass destruction in poor countries around the world. When impoverish countries go to war the soldiers are from the only people that are effected. Money that was spent on things such as crops and farming are now spent on weapons. This has a great affect on the people of the country. They now must not only fear for their lives because of the violence around them but also because of starvation. When wars in impoverish countries breaks out people sometimes are driven out of their homes and forced into make shift camps where they are monitored. Here the civilians cannot tend to their land, which causes hem to looses any crops they may have been farming, leading to hunger amongst their towns or village. There is no better example of this than all of the civil wars in African countries like Kenya, Somalia, and Rwanda. “ Every
