WORKSHEET – UNIT 1 Task 1 – List 5 qualities that a ‘good’ teacher should have and give reasons for your choices. Which of these qualities do you consider to be more important, and why? Patient, friendly, organized, manager, enthusiastic. Patient to deal with difficult students, friendly to make the lessons nicer, organized to help students learn in a better way, manager to control the class and enthusiastic to make the students believe in what you teach. Task 2 – State what you consider to be the five most important roles of a teacher. Describe each role and say why you think it is important. Model, observer, assessor, organizer and manager. I think being a manager is one of the most important skills a teacher should have: to teach the class, first you should be able to manage your students, organize your work and control and monitor the success of your lessons. Task 3 – List 5 qualities you would expect to find in a ‘good’ learner. Which of these qualities do you consider to be more important, and why? Motivation, behaviour, social environment, learning experience, language awareness. In my opinion, the student's motivation is the most important quality to learn. Task 4 – What are some of the major differences you would expect to find between adult and young learners? Adults are normally more receptive and motivated. Task 5 – List the levels of language ability that learners are often grouped into and give a brief summation of each level: Beginners: From zero knowledge to a very basic Elementary: Students can form basic structures and communicate on simple topics. Low/ pre-intermediate: Able to communicate and understand a greater variaty of topics Intermediate: Able to communicate and understand on a wide range of issues. Upper Intermediate: Should be able to actively communicate on almost all topics.
