QUESTION 1: WORKING WOMEN HAVE TO FACE MANY CHALLENGES IN THEIR WORKPLACE DUE TO GENDER INEQUALITY. THEIR CHANCES TO HOLD TOP MANAGEMENT POSITIONS ARE VERY LIMITED. DISCUSS THE REASONS FOR THE ABOVE STATEMENT TO SUPPORT YOUR ANSWERS. Nowadays, women are having a tough time to achieve their dreams in order to hold top management positions in their career compared to men. Even though, many women are possessing good qualifications academic and skills, they still could not achieve their dreams to get the successful careers in their lives. There are several triggering factors or aspects that have been found which impede their chances to hold top management positions such as Mommy Track, Glass ceiling, Gender Stereotyping, Old Boy’s Network and last but not least Culture. First and foremost is Mommy Track. According to (Cathy Young, 2005), Mommy Track is whereby women have to meet family responsibilities while continuing their careers. As a result, there could be less expectation by the top management or the employer who perceives such employees being less committed to their careers. In this globalised era, we can see that women after marriage will eventually become pregnant after around 1 to 3 years. This causes a bad perception or prejudice thinking by the employers who think that women are incapable to perform a full commitment to their career after they have their own families or children to look after upon. The employers think that women are burdened with huge responsibilities which is child bearing. As a result of this, women have to spend most of their time by taking care of the children which eventually declining their performance on their careers.
