A society’s culture includes all the following: a) Language b) Customs (such as birthdays) c) Values – These are vague beliefs about what is right and correct in society. For example life is precious therefore it is wrong to kill someone. d) Norms – These are patterns of behaviour that are accepted as normal and right. For example queuing for a bus. Culture varies from society to society. During our lives we each learn the culture of our own group, we learn to think and behave in ways that are acceptable to a particular group. The aim of my report is to discuss the fundamental personal and professional values and their relation to health and social care, examining how different norms and values are developed. The working practice is such that the personal values and opinions of an individual must be kept apart from the professional values of an organisation. Firstly, it is important to think about your own values, and how they might affect your practice. The values a person holds may incline from their cultural perspective or from religious beliefs, this can create conflict. The working practice encourages and makes one aware of their personal values so they do not interfere with providing the
