“Without conflict there can be no progress.” – During life we are confronted with many different struggles and conflicts that inevitably give us the strength to reach our goals, and the drive to push our way through the hurdles we encounter in our lives. No path is without an obstacle, and no goal is without a path. So to reach goals and to obtain progress through life we must face conflict front-on in order to move forwards. It is not possible to produce something good in this world, unless something bad has already been instigated. Conflict can be described as a serious disagreement or argument, typically a protracted one between anyone, from two friends fighting over a video game all the way through to countries fighting each other for land. Conflict at times can cause great devastation and these times are the ultimate test of how people can get back on their feet, and progress through the tough times. Consequently, it is shown that conflict and progress interrelate. Let us consider what may initiate conflict. Dissonance is the prime factor of a conflict; however, it is also very essential for us to learn from it. Through times many disagreements have occurred due to a clash of ideas. The Holocaust, many people know how horrifying and wrong it was, but not many people actually knew why the twisted Nazis’ started it. The Germans had been forced into an economic hell due to the Versailles Treaty. The British, Americans and the French had ruined and humiliated them. Those nations had power over most of their weapon industries. So the Germans’ needed someone to blame that wasn’t so powerful and wasn’t very big. The angry citizens and the politicians’ negotiation were to blame someone that couldn’t kill them and they needed a scapegoat. That scapegoat was the Jews. As shown by the Holocaust, conflict can be gruesome and bigoted. However, during the four
