Without a Mask You Are Free

My favourite quote of V for Vendetta by the Wachowskis is when Gordon says, “When you wear a mask for so long you forget who you are beneath it”. When people pretend to be someone they are not, they forget who they really are. Gordon has pretended to be a funny, normal comedian when he has been hiding his true desires in a small room. He doesn’t know what he likes or who he is because he has been using this mask to keep him alive in society. Then that night I saw pictures on Instagram of her drunk with people she didn’t normally hang out with. They were downtown by the MacDonald’s giving each other piggybacks and holding bottles of alcohol. That’s when I realized she has changed. During that school year she wore her mask more.
