“True Heart” Success first starts off with the belief you have within yourself and, confidence is everything in order to be the best that you can be. Winning is succeeding, and in sports everyone loves to win. Competiveness is a strong trait within a person, especially between males. Once you are seen as competition your competitor will do whatever it takes to make sure you fail. To be successful is all a wrestler could want, being a state champion is your main goal and is what you heart is set on.
This world has many heroes; the T.V, radio, and media shout out their names. Its apparent they that they gave their best, and they deserve their fame; but the heroes that should be shown are the ones that go with the game and never shout their name. the game players who are quietly doing deeds that help and show others their best, but that the world never shouts their name or recognize the impact they have. We need to recognize the heroes that people don’t know by name. we need to show them that we care, what better way to show them we appreciate them than to carve a replica of them in something as enduring as rock.
As a football coach I believe that one of my main ideals will be the utmost importance placed on success and winning. I cannot agree at all with the direction that young participation sports are going we their viewpoint on winning. I do not feel that a child should be brought up to believe that he will be rewarded solely for attempting a challenge. This kind of backwards philosophy will bring many problems in the near future because we are telling the children that life is about giving the effort, not about actually succeeding. This is not the case in any kind of professional field today because no one really cares how hard you try unless you produce results and overcome the challenges you are faced with.
Before making it to the National Football League Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson lived through difficult childhoods. Now having made it on the main stage Owens and Johnson are two of the most well known wide receivers in the National Football League today. They aren’t known only for their game breaking ability, but for their demeanor on and off the field. Both of these receivers have changed the game of football, making it a performance instead of a game. Both Terrell and Chad are excellent athletes, but besides that they have similar character traits, beliefs, and behavioral patterns.
Being competitive makes you want to do your best and ultimately win. In society today, if you are not on top then you are not recognized. In today’s world, parents are teaching their children to just have fun and not to care about winning. Children today compete in sports, who has the best grades, best clothes, and the newest electronics. Kids should always have fun, but competition is what makes it fun.
I strived to succeed, so when I didn’t do my best I would get very upset with myself and try harder until I was the best. I hate the feeling of failure especially when I knew that I had tried my very hardest. My parents always told me try your hardest or don’t try at all, so anytime I lost at something I felt like I was letting them down. Like I said before the best feeling in the world is when your parents show pride in you, well how awesome that feels is coinciding with how horrible it feels when they are upset with me. Through the years I have learned what I am good at and what I don’t excel in.
Bullying, however, is an important factor that forces many children to exceed their expectations because they “[have] no choice but to persevere and to succeed” (“Love Letter To My Bully”). Colonel Graff, a teacher at Battle School, has used this principle on a young Ender Wiggin, to make him one of the best child soldiers that mankind has ever had. He “isolated Ender to make him struggle. To make him prove...that he was far better than everyone
Football is its own sport in many was one being its unique championship. “Football remains the only NCAA sport whose championship isn't decided through a playoff system”(Herald, p.1) that is very unique to the sport and some want to keep it because they like to be different. Some believe that the more different they are the better it is. One of the main groups that were against playoffs were the “lords” or owners, of different teams that they are “ defending the 'fairness' of deeply flawed for determining a division 1-A National Champion”(Herald, p.1). They don't care if others say that the way is flawed they still believe that it is fair in some
Ender would stay up and train and study everything he could to beat all the missions he had. “What matters is that he won the game that couldn’t be won” (66) ender had a lot of problems with the other launches because of his success and would often have to stand up for himself. Before ender made his moves he would study the actions of the enemy in his head to map out his action plan and make his move. No one else was as determined to be the best as ender was. And by doing what he did he was success full in what he wanted.
This quote was beneficial during his coaching years to help discipline his players. The team had a reputation for winning so many games; but, he wanted to teach his players that building their character is more important than being seen as winners. It is merely what everyone else sees them as only. Mr. Wooden worries more about his students’ character than their reputation because character repeats champions not reputation.
