It has gotten to the point where we have the mentality that we are in need of assistance at all time but everything and we much rather let other things work for us instead of us working for ourselves. In our society we have important scientist that go about building robots for our new world. We often look to all the sci-fi films and wish to recreate the flying cars, talking robots, and the futuristic homes, yet we are not in the correct time for them all. Notice, saying all, we do have enough to make the flying cars and the talking robots. It’s apart of this new world to put things in that finally call to throughout the ages and match the years of technology that we should already have.
Robots are trained and have data to work that we haven’t done it because it was too dangerous or risky. Basically many different type of robots exist today and they are very beneficial to us but according to scientists research the robots in future will be more advance and professional. But there is a predication that some robots will get negative data and they could make their own type of robots and destroy humans and take control over earth. But is that true? We are not sure it’s only a prediction.
Although robotic surgery is more effective, easier, and causes fewer side effects, surgeons will be so dependent on it that they will lose their technical surgical skills. Robotic surgery has many admirable aspects to it. Doctors find it to be very helpful and easier for them to see what they are working on. “The computer-enhanced technology and robotic precision ensure a level of surgical precision never before possible.” (“Advantages of Robotic Surgery” 1). Surgeons are now able to reach critical spots in the human body that were much more difficult and risky to reach with the human hand.
Today’s work place is one area where technology advancement has had a somewhat adverse effect. Many jobs that were performed by humans, can now be done by a computer. As times have changed, and technology has advanced a lot of the workforce has been left behind because of failure to adjust to the modern work changes, or not having a skill specialized enough to be safe from being outsourced, or automated. To have a lasting and successful career in the workforce, a person needs to research their chosen career field, and have a good feel for the growth of that chosen career in the future. Knowing how a career field has changed, and where Flournoy 2 it is projected to be in the future should be one of the most important factors when it comes to choosing a career to pursue.
Other phone companies and cable companies got in on the market and providing the internet to customers using new fiber optic cables that provided internet speed 100 times faster than the 56K speed previously provided. The new technology made life for many individuals easier however; in some cases it was devastating, as the development of new technologies, like answering systems, made certain positions obsolete; reducing the number of jobs available in some fields. In addition, the new technologies made further education regarding how to use these new devices or systems vital to not only employees but also to individuals who found themselves in need of employment. Companies developed machines that could replace the need for paid employees and could eliminate error; this is especially true in the car manufacturing industry. Although, the new technologies caused many job loses, in fact, it did create numerous jobs, and some reports say 24 million.
In Blade Runner, Scott explores the innovative and exciting ideas associated with being able to create ‘perfect’ life, however, he suggests that cloning technology can be dangerous for humankind when creations are just as intelligent and strong as humans. The Replicants are described as “more human than human” by Tyrell, their creator, when he tells Roy Batty, “You were made as well as we could make you”. However, despite being shown to be perfect, this is shown to be fraught with danger for humankind as they are lethal in their quest to reach Tyrell and compel him to give them more life. Early in the film, Deckard gets given the job “retiring” the NEXUS 6 Replicant’s that “…Slaughtered twenty-three people and jumped a shuttle…”
But, this does very little in protecting you against some other guys writing a spreadsheet which is more user friendly, calculates faster, and provides more functions, even though you were the inventor of the spreadsheet. There are only so many general purpose software programs. The rest of computer software is specialized, developed for a particular purpose, to solve a specific problem. These specific software solutions may rely on the general purpose solutions, but refine them. By refining them they become specific applications targeting a specific set of users with a specific set of problems.
These non-animal methods replace those archaic animal tests, and take less time to complete. It' shocking that individuals are not informed that non-animal experimentation methods are applicable to human life. The physiological chip is an amazing invention that contains cell compartments that are eligible to test the effects of drugs. Barnard (2007) describes the ability of the chip to “mimic the complex functions of the human body” (p.19). If a simple chip has the power to mimic the functions of the human body, then it is a huge resource to research.
The increase in labor is example of variable costs because the need for labor will change as the firms output changes (Hubbard and O’Brien). The more workers you employ will change over time as the output changes. The firm’s owners stated that the reason for the change was because it was becoming difficult to get employees to work extra hours and that the increase productivity of robotics would give them a chance to give more time towards training the current workers. The company stated that they were sending current employee team leaders to Germany to be trained on advanced grinding equipment. This technology will be the only one of its kind in the United States.
This, however, is a slippery slope because automation does not necessarily cause job loss. One must take a deeper look at how robots impact the industry. First of all, as mentioned before, companies who automate create direct and indirect jobs by doing so. It is true that robots could take low skilled factory jobs; however, the number of unemployed workers has stayed the same or even decreased throughout the years. Our society today is very technologically advanced and not utilizing those technologies will only put us at a disadvantage.
