For years, the two key political parties remained almost equal when it came to political strength in the county. The Democratic Party rejected the issues concerning the currency issue that the democrats fell to a low status and lost. The issue at hand with the currency was centered on using silver and gold in order to expand the amount of money that would be in circulation. Many of these laws stated that Japanese could not become citizens of the United States and could not hold basic rights. For example many Japanese were not allowed to own land. These laws left a negative impact on the newly arrived immigrants, since many of them were farmers and had little choice but to become migrant workers. It is believed that the beginning of this racism towards Japanese is from a League known as the Asiatic Exclusion Act. This group’s aim was to spread anti-Asian propaganda and influence legislation restricting Asian immigration (Japans Pacific Onslaught).

Colonists couldn’t trade with the world, weren’t protected of their rights, imposed taxes, and a lot more. The king of the colonies had treated them with a lot of disrespect. He had not given them any freedom whatsoever, and had just made them follow his unjust rules and law. Although they knew the consequences or punishments for doing so, the colonists had found ways to smuggle.

Mining was becoming very expensive for not a lot of profit in the end. By the end of the 1850s many miners wanted to go back home and other went in to obtain occupations to protect themselves against changes in mining. To add to the feeling of restriction, soldiers were stationed at the colonies to maintain control and make sure they were keeping to Britain’s rule of not moving westwards. The king of England being so far away did not realise this resentment and hostility growing in the colonies and so a few years later came the series of
