Why we should be good Samaritans Surfing through the TV channels on a cold evening, I came across Diane Sawyer (ABC World News). In there was an accident that happened in Utah where a motorcyclist came head on with a car. Commuters stopped and lifted an eight ton car and pried motorcyclist from beneath the car. The good Samaritans and pulled him out of the car unconscious. After that broadcast I was in was in astonishment of the people had done. Days later the motorcyclist said, in the hospital that he was grateful that he was alive and thanks the good Samaritans who helped him and now which he calls “Heroes”. We should help others in need to be good Samaritans because it is the right thing to do, it could be a loved one and it can save a life. Helping others is a moral duty, and a moral conscience, the magazine article “A State Championship Versus a Competitive Runner”; John Hoyle helped an injured runner than finishing his race because “it seemed right”. Others like Hoyle’s coach and fellow teammates thought it were more important to win the race than helping someone in need. Hoyle’s action showed that he was a good sport and what he did was worth more than winning. We humans intended to be good Samaritans, need to help others because it is the right thing to do, rather than to be selfish. But others do it from the kindness of their heart. Mitch Lipka writes in “Heroes: Subway Rescue” about Ismael “Mel” Feneque, a former high school wrestler, who risked his life by jumping in the subway platform and rescuing Lisa Donath . Feneque saved her because he has a daughter, “she could be anybody’s daughter”. People had thought Feneque was insane to go after a complete stranger with a train closing in. Officials said that it was a great thing that he had done, and they thank him for it. And by that, one complete stranger saves a life of a loved one. By being a Good
