He uses the words “paralyzed by wonder” to explain his situation (23). These chosen words are not normally used to describe one's marvel, but in Abbey's case it works. The word paralyzed tends to have a negative connotation since it is typically used to describe bad situations, such as someone afraid and helplessly unable to act. With the word wonder having a positive connotation, it starkly contrasts from its neighboring word. By using “paralyzed by wonder” Abbey must mean that the dance was so fantastic that it captivated him and kept him unable to move (23).
They were part of the women life cycle, since many stated that they quit when they find a "beau" or get married. The dance hall culture changed by making "unescorted" women admission fees lower so to attract single women. In addition, the dance halls were a gathering of people looking for amusement and pleasure, so most "new" things in entertainment were tested there or developed there. On the contrary to many assumptions, the charity girls were not prostitutes since they didn't want money, but they wanted presents, attention, and other things that gave them pleasure. Some of them do it just for pleasure and others for financial support in the short term.
According to psychologytoday.com, Kate Roberts Ph.D states that parents can use Miley’s performances to “generate discussion about the importance of expectations and being cautious decision-makers” (psychologytoday.com 2). Miley’s decisions to dance provocatively on stage and wear skimpy outfits does not mean she is making bad choices, she is just using her actions and words as self-expression, which parents of the older generations do not understand. Kate goes on to say that kids should change their image “effectively and with self-respect, not just as a reaction to someone or something” (psychologytoday.com 2). Dr. Roberts has the wrong idea on Miley because Miley is not trying to influence girls how to grow up and act, she is wearing the clothes and doing the performances she is doing because it makes her happy. Any interview or documentary a person watches about Miley will understand that her self-confidence is at an all-time high and everything she does makes her happy and love
The attire utilized by the Pow-wow culture and by the Aztec dancers is very similar because they could both make music with their uniform. Another similarity between the Pow-wow culture and the Aztec dancers is that they both gather for religious occasions. These both cultures allow men women and children participate in these activities. The difference they have is that performances done by the Aztec dancers are only for religious purposes unlike the Pow-wow culture competes and receives monetary recognitions. Every distinct culture has different ways of portraying their beliefs
The friendship between the dancers backstage immediately establishes that these people belong together through their love for dance. The spotlight scene is important as it highlights Scott’s sense of not belonging. The voice over in this scene reinforces the steps that don’t belong
In my opinion a Symbol narrows down a broad and endless topic like what God represents, to one thing or few things. A symbol generates the intrinsic meaning that causes a reaction from within us and from this we can gain a full understanding. To say a symbol can provide a meaningful way to talk about God is strong in some aspects. For example, from my experiences of going to church, when I re-collect what it is like to go to Church, I automatically think of a warm, inviting place which is open to forgiveness and gives every walk of life the freedom to express themselves. This emotion inside me and outlook is created I think of a Church.
If a dance doesn't win, it doesn't mean it's bad. If a choreographer isn't on SYTYCD, it doesn't mean they aren't worth working with. If a teacher can't book you something, it doesn't mean their class isn't worth taking. Know loyalty. ALWAYS remember where you came from and who got you there.
The atmosphere at Cerritos Mission Church is great for Christian worship. It is so peaceful and tranquil that I can easily connect with God and improve my relationship with him through prayer. This particular church is always open to the public and is an excellent place for contemplating. Although the atmosphere is amazing, the buildings of this church are very old and run down. Just like most churches, the income a church receives is by its members and donations from the community.
Your favorite genre of dance, and why? I enjoy all styles of dance, but my favorite genre is contemporary. You are to attempt to illustrate and interpret the actual meaning and emotion communicated in the song. I love being able to tell a story while utilizing the lyrics or mood of the music. 3.
