Especially we need to recognize that the Internet is a public environment everyone has access to. As Justice Samuel Alito, Jr. argued, “Protecting this kind of Internet speech posed ‘a very grave threat of domestic violence” (Denniston). Elonis’ case is definitely different from Virginia v. Black in 2003 because burning a cross does not show a clear message and only involves a limited amount of people, but Elonis’ words online can speak clearly that he would do something and convey to a much wider audience, making them fear and nervous. If everyone is free to speak any violence word as Elonis did online, the society will be in completely chaos. Everyone will live in fear because saying terrorism is all right.
On 31 December 2007, Stephen Conroy announced the Federal Government's intention to introduce an ISP-based filter to censor "inappropriate material" from the Internet (mainly child abuse and terrorism). In this announcement he also stated that adults could opt out of the filter to receive an uncensored internet. The filter itself is flawed, so is met with strong opposition. Banning illegal content like child abuse and terrorism is inarguably a good thing. I welcome it.
The phrase ‘death chariots’ with their association of death, violence and destruction has the intended affect to fear readers of these manic, destructive young teens. It is this appeal to fear which evokes activity in the community to promote a change in society. Wowser also refers to the waste of ‘our tax dollar on a futile and ineffective effort to lower road toll by advertising’ reiterating that the law in place is not desired. This evokes hostility and a want for change in readers. Wowser adds an appeal to community service in saying it is rare ‘to find a young person who is a member of the Salvation Army’.
“That’s not the way the media wants to take it and spin it and turn it into fear because then your watching television… news and your being pumped full of fear… it’s a campaign of fear and consumption- interview” How this alters my perspective> the media isn’t always reliable and it can be very inaccurate and misleading. It also changes my perspective in the way that the media has the power to change the way people think and believe in. Third paragraph: *The irony that the government doesn’t get blamed for the gun violence when they frequently get involved in foreign affairs (Archival footage & music) 1963-1975: American military kills 4 million civilians in south East Asia. 1991: American planes bombs Iraq on a weekly basis 2001: Osama Bin Laden uses expert CIA training to murder 3000 people. “I think that’s really ironic that nobody said maybe the president had any influence on this violent behavior.”- Interview How this alters my perspective: thinking that the government always tries to help, this makes it very contradicting, the govt.
China is a Cyberthreat to America Many Americans believe that China is a cyberthreat to America. A cyberthreat is defined as the possibility of a malicious attempt to damage or disrupt a computer network or system. There is a number of reasons many American citizens and government officials feel threatened by China. If China ever successfully hacks into Americas data base systems, there would be a major economic downfall. But some also think that the threats are due to Americas weak cyber policy.
He goes to Montag’s house to check up on him. Noticing that Montag seems uneasy, the captain explains how books became illegal and why firemen do what they do. He explains that books only cause conflict across the human race and that they have no purpose. New concepts like television and sports have been created as a non-degrading new form of entertainment, revealing that this society takes place in the future. Books are seen as evil in this society so the new job of firemen was to burn these banned books to promote world peace.
The book Fahrenheit 451 is a book about censorship that bans book from the world. Anyone that has books gets burned down by the firemen. The government controls everything in the society and clearly it does not work. Therefore you can tell that if you censor books and do not allow people to read and gain knowledge a scenario like Fahrenheit 451 could happen faster then we
Having trouble using Wikipedia today? That's because the popular crowd-sourced online encyclopedia is participating in an "Internet blackout" in protest of two controversial anti-piracy bills: The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and its Senate companion, the Protect IP Act (PIPA). Pictures: Websites go dark to protest SOPA The bills are intended to strengthen protections against copyright infringement and intellectual property theft, but Internet advocates say they would stifle expression on the World Wide Web. In essence, the legislation has pitted content providers -- like the music and film industries -- against Silicon Valley. CBS Corporation is among the media and entertainment companies that support the legislation.

Eventually, due to the growing out-cry and violence stemming from the controversy, the Chinese Exclusion Act was passed by Congress to limit immigrant labors into the United States. The consistent, constant and progressive bombardment of articles with images of immigrants stealing what the white workingman was fighting were ways to reach common households. Images were means to show the enemy. The illustrations, for the most part, were crude caricature used to attack a race's stereotypes or general idea of what they stood to destroy. The media period before, during, and after the Chinese Exclusion Act in San Francisco was mostly meant to focus on what the immigration of Chinese was doing to the “American” way of
