Along with the development of the society, people live longer and longer. They are also healthier. Here I would like to discuss fractional reasons about it. The one most reason is that people regard their lifestyle more. People pay more attention to their nutrition. Such as, eating more abundantly and healthy (e.g., food pyramids), watching their own weight, and controlling appetite befittingly. They also get plenty of exercise, such as, aerobics, yoga. A healthy athlete biked twenty miles every day. It is also good for mental longevity, which has effects to people’ life-span. Professor Lawrence Whalley (2001, p.2), University of Edinburgh, showed the data that high mental ability in late childhood reduces the chances of death up to age 76. Wholesome suggests appealing healthiness and well-being: “Exercise develops wholesome appetites.” At same time, more and more people wake up to the disadvantages about cigarettes and drugs, and deny themselves. Another one is people is paying attention to personal physical and mental health. More persons engage private doctors to help them keep healthy. Another main reason is from society, that is, better technology, better medical break through and we have better health care system compare to back then. Ever since we are babies we get vaccines to prevent illnesses which in the past killed thousands of people during epidemics like small pox (Francis Crick 1953, p.24). There is so much preventative medicine now-a-days and also so much medicine we can take once we already have an illness. In addition, health maintenance organizations (HMOs), or group practice plans, are designed to promote disease prevention and reduce medical expenditures.
