The Challenges of Immigrating to the United States Immigrants are people who leave their hometown to permanently live in a foreign country, usually in pursuit of a better life. Many of these immigrants would move to the U.S. since it was a nation where people could find jobs and get land. The United States was a country where anyone could go to start a new life, however, a majority of these people were usually poor and had to endure a lot before having a normal life. These settlers had to live a hard and demanding life because countless numbers of them were poor families who were constantly struggling to get a living and finding a job. During the 1900s, a large number of immigrants came to the United States of America looking
Wealthier societies have exceptional educational services which include better teachers, utilities, and curriculum, whereas poorer societies just get by on the bare minimum. Children who do not become well educated will not succeed as far as they may like to because their knowledge and qualifications will limit them. Without that education, it is extremely difficult for individuals with low incomes to overcome the poverty barrier and they will most likely end up in a
Cultural deprivation means when children are deprived from things what they need. This can include the lack of values and support they get from their parents, which can influence on socialisation skills. It can be argued that due to lack of family structure, social cultural and soft skills pupils are less likely to underachieve. Cultural deprivation is a theory that many working-class children are inadequately socialised and therefore lack the ‘right’ culture appropriate for a successful education. Many people argue that development is vital in the younger years in the child’s life, and the ability to solve problems and apply ideas help in the long-term.
Children coming from little advantage miss out on an amount of things. One being education, coming from a low income schooling system that means that the education is not always up to par. Children that attend these schools will not be academically prepared for college if they do not have the skills they need. Coming from a low income schooling system where there are not enough books to go around and things of that matter are sometimes not skillfully prepared for furthering their education. Children are hindered by these kinds of schools, teachers and peers lay a big role in the children’s lives.
Children who are not loved will find it difficult in the future to make long lasting friendships. Children will feel isolated and unhappy. It is important that children are loved and care for properly. A key economic factor that may influence development is unemployment. Parents who are on low income might have children wearing clothes that are too small for them.
The glass ceiling effect also applies to class differences in the workplace. Class often distinguishes your career and social status from birth. If someone is born poor, there is a great chance that he or she will also grow up without money and they won’t be able to have a good paying job. Wealthy families have many options and resources to provide for their children and families. This is seen through education, professional networking and family help.

Less people would have to depend on welfare and other community services to get by. Many people depend on welfare because the current minimum wage is not enough to satisfy their basic needs. So, an increase would help more people help themselves. An increase would benefit all workers because it would push wages up for all employees. An employer would not be able to hire an unskilled employee for the same amount of a skilled employee, who has been employed longer.
For those who did receive an education, an ethnic conflict could force them to migrate to different regions in the world, resulting in a brain drain for the area infected with an ethnic conflict. This drastically increases the rate of poverty to the population that ethnic conflict plagues. Discrimination becomes rampant as well when ethnic conflict is involved. A certain group of people might not have the same privileges, economic opportunities, or political freedoms as another group. A person trying to apply for a job could be turned away only because of his ethnicity or religious viewpoints.
