There are also criminals who fight with officers when they act erratically, trying to get away. Data for 2003 shows that police used force at a rate of 3.61 times per 10,000 Calls-for-service that is a 0.0361% (Heather MacDonald). There is times when force must be used for the public’s and the cops safety. Just imagine if someone had a gun and was waiving it around in a public place where there are innocent people, and that someone had a finger on the trigger threatening to shoot, what is the responsibility of an officer? Unfortunately he must use force to try to protect him-self and innocent people around the scene.
Issues surrounding gun violence have been prevalent for decades, however in recent years the crime rates have spiked drastically due to gang violence. These gangs are involved in a host of different crimes like homicides and the illegal sale of narcotics. Street gangs are setting up shop in predominantly Black communities threatening the lives of many innocent civilians. As if the presence of gang activity in these communities isn’t bad enough, these gangs are robbing young girls and boys of their future often recruiting them involuntarily. It is extremely important for the citizens of these gang-infested areas to grasp the totality of the issue and decide to fight against it despite feelings of hopelessness.
The percentages of the people that are arrested in New Orleans are young African American Males. Now are all them all committing horrible crimes like murder? Well some are, but instead of these crooked cops trying to do undercover work they should be stopping the real problems. Many of New Orleans police officers are not in it for the safety of our city. There polices officers that arrested men with weed just to keep it and sell it back to another drug dealer so that they make money off of it.
The topics I touched on were just a start of many more topics with problems and solutions. The War on Drugs has turned into transnational Combat because of the variables that go along with Drug trafficking. This is a fight unlike the many wars we have fought in different countries this war is in our own. This war is being fought in our own states, cities, counties, and even our own back yard. This is an indication of the justice system failing they are putting people in prison and then dropping them off in the same spot they started from.
The effective gun control measures are a boon to law-abiding citizens and reinforce the constitutional rights [Pros and Cons of Gun Control]. The only function of a gun is to kill. Legally held guns are stolen and end up in the hands of criminals, who would have greater difficulty in obtaining such weapons if firearms were less prevalent in society. Guns also end up in the hands of children, leading to tragic accidents and terrible disasters such as the Columbine High School massacre in the U.S.A. Sometimes even normal-seeming registered gun owners appear to go mad and kill, as tragically happened at Hungerford and Dunblaine in the U.K. Quite simply, guns are lethal and the fewer people have them the better.
Gun control has always been a controversial topic. The deadly trigger has been known to kill many people through accidents and cold blooded murders. Some people fear that guns cause crimes and negatively impact society and as a result, feel that there should be some sort of ban or restriction placed on guns. However, others fear for their own security and believe that guns are needed for self defense and the restriction of guns will only go against their right to bear arm, as promised by the Second Amendment. Guns are fairly popular these days.
Rape in everyday life is already unacceptably common. One in six women is raped or sexually assaulted in her lifetime, according to the National Institute of Justice, a number so high it should be considered an epidemic. In the military, however, the situation is even worse. Rape is almost twice as frequent as it is among civilians, especially in wartime. Soldiers are taught to regard one another as family, so military rape resembles incest. And most of the soldiers who rape are older and of higher rank than their victims, so are taking advantage of their authority to attack the very people they are supposed to protect.
The shooting of Brown sparked numerous amounts of protest and racial tension. After the shooting there was an increase in crime. There was assults on police offices, robberies, and other crimes where many people were arrested. It seems that when there is white on black crime it goes big in the media. It seems to create this huge conflict, whether its racism or not.
In America they need to create better safety gun controls. They should have a smart gun, which the gun only fires in the hands of its owner which have a companion watch on. If a person doesn’t have the companion watch those guns would not be allowed to fire. As gun control is such a controversial topic that leads to arguments of whether it should be legalized or not, the idea that we would not be able to defend ourselves, should the need arise, is a horrific nightmare and almost a terrible reality. Legalizing gun control will only further the pain caused to our country through the many instances that have occurred in the past and recently.
It doesn’t happen nearly as much as people would like to believe, But it dose happen. Police see minorities as more trouble and they think that they would be more likely to commit crimes. Also they are more violent toward minorities. Police have beaten black people who have committed minor crimes for no reason. These incidents are reported and the cops are quickly fired and charges for there crime.
