Although, the development of change already faced opposition from right-winged supporters, including rich landowners who feared social changes that the Republic would try to implement. Under Generals Sanjurjo, Franco and Mola, the Spanish Civil War began as a military coup, which was aimed to put an end to the democratic political change that was seen in 1931. As seen in Italy with Mussolini in 1922 and with Hitler in Germany in 1933, one could argue that the rise of fascism subsequently kick started the demand of a takeover in Spain. But, we have to bear in mind the bad timing of 1931 to implement such a change, with the worldwide economic crisis caused by the 1929 Wall Street Crash in America, and the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution in Russia, there was now fear throughout Europe of communism and revolution. Although at the beginning of the rebellion, the three main generals were not actually all in Spain.
Today in our education systems our student are learning that in 1493 Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue and discover America and portrayed as a heroic figure. Columbus, who was also struggling while he was exploring, was confident going into his conquest but then, when confiding in the state and the church like Cabeza de Vaca, became nervous. Cabeza de Vaca embellishes his writings in purpose of being forgiven for the money and manpower spent on the expedition. In chapter seven Cabeza de Vaca shows in his writings how he was attacked by the Indians a few times, "The day following, others came against us from a town on the opposite side of the lake, and

After quitting the slave trade, he returned home on the John of Kirkcubright. He was forced to take command after the ships captain and first mate obtained a fatal fever. After these failed attempts, seeing how power was in numbers, Many London merchants, soldiers, and country men came together and organized a trading company and then were granted a charter by King James as The Virginia Company of London, on April 10, 1606. Thus in 1607 the local natives witnessed, to their surprise, a band of over one hundred white men come ashore to stay and settle a fort on the island to protect from a sea invasion of spain and an aboriginal invasion of the indians. At last the English had settled a colony in the new world. The next chapter brings the Native Americans into the picture a little more and set the time period back a few decades. Before the settlement of Jamestown in 1607, a spanish Admiral named Pedro Melendez de Aviles, sailed to the new worlds in the spring of 1561.
Raleigh believed he could colonize in the land by trying again in a warmer climate in which the English men could handle. Raleigh tried several times to colonize in the area of Virginia but failing miserably each attempt. With each failed attempt, the English Empire lost more respect the shadow of Spanish grew greater over them. The colony in which Raleigh was trying to colonize, known as “Roanoke” mysteriously disappeared on the final try and to this day, no one knows what happened. There have been many explanations with why Roanoke disappeared such as disease, hurricanes, or the Native Americans killed them.
