Martell King T. Redmond ENG 101 March 10, 2015 The Continuance of Black History Month The legacy of Black History Month is an achievement we all should be proud of. Black History Month should be continued to further educate our people. African Americans did great things to help shape this country with their inventions. They also inspired younger generations to strive to do better because even though they were going through tough times they still found a way to leave their footprints in the sand. Listed below I can give a few different reasons why black history month should be continued. One of my reasons why black history month should be around is to further educate our people. To educate our younger generations more about the history of their ancestors. To celebrate the great things African Americans invented that shaped the world today. Also to give that young brother or sister inspiration to not give up on their dreams when the going gets tough. We should not let others undermine our past and accomplishments and we should not forget our own history. I feel that black history month is becoming irrelevant and more so a school assignment than a time to reflect upon the interesting facts about our ancestors and the many things they accomplished that give so much flavor to our culture. If we stop teaching and learning about our African American history, it will become easier to convince people that African Americans came from nothing and that is false. I believe that white people do not want black history month to continue because it is a constant reminder of what their ancestors did. You cannot have American history without Black
