Key Stage 4 2012 – 2013 Year 10 and 11 (I)GCSE Core and Optional Subjects Information Book Message from Mr. Arthur (Vice Principal Academic) Welcome to Key Stage 4 options. The purpose of this booklet is to provide both students and parents with information about the courses that are available in Years 10 and 11 at Day Waterman College. Some subjects are compulsory as these are essential for a good all round education and for progression to higher level qualifications and university entrance. Going into Key Stage 4 is the first time students will be able to make choices about the subjects that they want to study in more detail – similarly they will be able to make choices about subjects that they don't want to study! The purpose
Once I am in SWAG other students will realize this and might want to achieve like me and try to be in SWAG. While in SWAG I will let younger students know that it doesn't matter what age you are to become a leader. Also, I will become an elite member of SWAG. I have a great GPA and can really speak for the students to make this school better. I could take ideas and listen to the students.
Also another policy introduced in the 1988 education act was open enrolment days in which parents and students could look around schools and experience what it would be like to go to that particular school. Also to increase choice, open enrolment created a competition for schools to attract pupils and a greater funding. However some sociologists would argue that education policies have other aims other than marketisation. Students now at school have to stay on in some type of education till they are 18. This policy was introduced by New Labour, carried out later by the conservatives, with the main aim to reduce inequality.
Carla Wright My Return to School English Composition 1 Denya Cuiffo October 14, 2013 When we attend college as adults, we have expectations of what college will be or will not be. I decided to go back to school for quite a few reasons. The main factors for my returning to school includes my family and stability also plays big role in my returning to school. My reasons for going back to school is to gain communication skills, become a good role model for my children, if I decide to have any, gain independence and seek profitable employment that would be profitable for me. My father has always been my support system in my return to school.
Using league tables is a good thing as if you want your child to go to a good school, you can chose the one most suitable with good education and exam results. Schools are paid by how many children they can attract so school results and Ofsted inspection publications is hoped to make schools compete and get good results or they wont attract pupils and the funding. Different types of schools for example faith schools and academy schools are a change that also helped pupils in education. Faith schools were introduced in the 1990s by demands of Muslims who wanted their own faith schools. Different types of schools help as parents have more choice and freedom of where they want their child to go.
As well as setting the policy the National Government look into ways of maintaining the quality of the services for children under the five outcomes of Every Child Matters. They have also set up and administer school league tables. School league tables show how the schools are achieving. Not all students are going to be academic and would prefer to study vocational courses and this should be taken into account. Furthermore,
The Title I and IDEA Grants will sustain the commitment to help the disadvantage students and which will also, include the diverse students, as well as, students with disabilities. The grants will provide $14.5 billion for ESEA Title I and $11.6 billion for individuals with disabilities and so forth. This will help the Education Act to help provide teacher's for this program plan. The government thinks this will be taken place in 2014. The teacher's need to be willing to go to other educational intervention meetings to brush up on their technology and skills.
Though the four years college, I learned to become a responsible person to my society. I have also been trained to have a better level of English as my second language which now I could communicate with people effectively. My plan of action of minority discrimination is to being a person who could educate others and being an active member to anti-discrimination association. I want to influence people locally to educate them about equalitarianism no matter race, age, gender, and religions. I could start small with people that have the same thoughts with me.
While there are several “rags to riches” stories that serve to encourage the members of the lower class to work hard and achieve their dreams, much truth lies in the fact that the government does not provide enough opportunities for them to do so. I would recommend revising the school choice provision of the No Child Left Behind Act in order to enable the mobility of students to schools located outside of their district. By doing so, many of the children within the working class would have the option to attend a school where they could receive the same opportunities as those of their high-born
I chose to direct my video to all those foreign individuals that desire to complete their education in the United States. The purpose from my previous essay also had to be modified to fit this context. What was an informative and argumentative written paper was modified into a much more inspirational piece. Through this video my purpose is mainly to encourage foreign students to take some actions that will make their college experience much more enjoyable. Because my video was more directed to immigrants that just went through the transition to a new country, I tried to eliminate most variables that would complicate the communication between my audience and me.
