Making a difference in someone life just fascinates me, knowing that I have the power to help someone. Working at the Bruckner Oncology as a Medical Assistant intern is one of the greatest life experience. Even those I had face many new challenges I will not trade it in for any other work field. Becoming an assistant also supplies knowledge of the most intimate interactions of the natural processes, giving a glimpse of processes that are not easy to understand. At this Center the patients are Cancer related.
Analysis of “Organ Sales Will Save Lives” English 112 11:30-12:45 9/19/2012 Analysis of “Organ Sales Will Save Lives” Thousands of people die every year from a tragic disease known as end-stage renal failure. However, these deaths could be easily prevented with the legalization of kidney sales for transplant. Countless people around the world are either desperate to sell or buy a kidney, yet restrictions on such transactions have caused the black market organ trade to thrive. Restraints on kidney sales not only promotes risky conditions in which to purchase one, but cheats the seller out of due compensation if it were legal. In her essay “Organ Sales Will Save Lives”, Joanna Mackay explains how legalizing kidney sales would be beneficial in more ways than one; saving the lives of patients willing to buy kidneys, and with legal compensation, helping to end poverty in the countries of those willing to sell.
During the second term my focus has been on developing my skills to become a more valuable member of the health visiting team. My previous career within emergency nursing means I find the drop in clinic setting to be the area I am most comfortable within and this unscheduled method of contact a familiar one. I have been assisting the health visitor (HV) or child health advisor (CHA) each week with at least one clinic to improve my skills within this setting. This enables me to see a wide range of more common concerns and queries on a high volume basis but within a setting that affords me the opportunity to ask a colleague for advice if I am unsure. I feel I am learning a diverse range of subjects that will better equip me to answer questions
The Journal of Nursing Education states, “researchers found the concepts of caring and nurturance were identified as high motivators for choosing nursing” (Williams, Wertenberger, Hames, Gushuliak, 1997). At that time, I was working back office at a Urology office and was going to school. I decided one day that to be able to provide for my daughter if something were to happen between my husband and I that I could always support us. Therefore, my journey began. A Journey Amongst Friends I was fortunate enough to go to nursing school with my best friend Harley.
Registered Nurse “The opportunities are endless in nursing....travel, good income, can take a break for kids/family...go back to school at any time and get a master's degree or nurse practitioner certificate....work part time or full time. The real rewards come from the day- to-day interaction with truly grateful people that can see your passion for helping others...trying to make their life better by being there for them when they are sick or facing something scary and are the most vulnerable. I absolutely love what I do and can't imagine a more rewarding career for all the reasons.” (Clapp) There are thousands of types of nursing jobs available all over the united states. Nurse’s have played a huge role over the past 2 centuries by saving peoples lives. Registered Nurses is one of the top ten occupations, with the largest job growth.
The role of the nurse is to attempt to alleviate discomfort, restore health, and to not cause any additional undue harm. Though I have minimal clinical experience aside from clinical rotations, I have been witness to the progression of both my aunt and uncle’s cancer until the disease won both battles. These experiences taught me even more to treat others as I would want to be treated. The lessons that I learned from illness in my family transcend into my nursing
I have worked in the medical field for almost twenty years. I have had the pleasure of meeting or working closely with many people through out my career. There has been one client in particular however that changed my outlook completely on life while impacting my desire to make a difference in the health care industry as a whole. Her life, family, and the bond I made with this special woman during the last stages of her life inspired me to look beyond the realms of taking care of some one with Alzheimer’s disease. I learned to embrace the moments of this disease remembering to
I asked her what made her decide to get into this line of work, she stated “It was the same kind of work she did when she helped her husband who is a Chaplin.” They would go to hospitals, nursing homes talking to them and she really enjoyed it so that is what made her decide to get into this line of work. I was going to then ask her if she enjoyed what she did but I really did not need to, as we began the interview, it ended up being more like a story of her how she began working at Faith Hospice of
Sometimes in most cases a particular family member is trained by nurses to provide hands on care, and to supervise the patient around the clock. Many patients in hospice have been discharge to either home or nursing home if the disease goes into remission meaning if the cancer(s) somehow have subsides. Hospice was not designed to end hope for the patient or their family but to make the expected/unexpected death as comfortable and peaceful as possible. Hospice is not only for the elderly and cancer patients but it is for the young, the chronically ill. Hospice has a huge impact on our health care system the life expectancy is increasing tremendously. This is statement released by a group of physicians who did a research study on hospice.
Ohio Community and Public Health NUR/408 Ohio Community and Public Health As health care progresses, community and public health nursing has continued to evolve from providing basic needs to delivering advanced health care to: individual patients, families, and entire communities. By focusing on a single patient or a community nurses can practice health promotion for an entire population. This integration of such skills are very difficult and not only aid individuals and communities but are also relevant to the entire wellbeing of public health as a whole. Even though public health has been around since the establishment of the United States; most citizens do not realize how long community and public health nurses have been practicing
