Why Gaming Is Not Bad

To start my essay, I need to ask you a question. Do you think I am susceptible to be influenced in any magnitude by a product purchased for entertainment purposes? If you think so, then you are incorrect. What exactly do you think I am going to do? I understand what is in all of my games and what is in all, if not most games. With this kind of knowledge if I could have and wanted to do something that would be contrary to the law, insane, and/or life risking, don’t you think I would have done it by now? What I am trying to tell you is that whatever the character does in any and all video games I will never do, except of course driving a car like in Forza or planting a seed to grow things for food like in Viva Piñata. Studies have proven that games do not instill violent behavior, but they have the ability to magnify this behavior in people who already have issues. However, you need to stop believing the gaming stereotypes the news puts out; gaming doesn't turn good people bad, it just gives people entertainment. In fact, tests show that gaming is more of a stress relief than most after school activities. People shoot up schools, rob people and such and then use gaming as a scapegoat just because they can. It is not gaming's fault; those people really are just bad people. The game was not the key master to unlock the beast within. Any type of game cannot influence you or make you do anything that the characters do in games; it is your own choice. As I said in my first paragraph, I understand everything that happens in games; these things are happening all around us and are in the news. The worst of it is actually spoken of in church! Unless you think that going to church and listening to the news is going to lead your life into a downward spiral and impact you negatively, then you should also know that video games will not do that either.
