Austin Peters 15-2-2011 The Affair of the Lips: Why we kiss? After reading a few pages of this essay I was a little puzzled by this essay’s statements and claims as to how a simple kiss can change the fate of our lives with a person. A kiss is a powerful gesture towards something greater and is something very sacred to most people, while to others a kiss is a gate into a world of something less sacred and more pleasurable. A kiss is something that humans do to show favor to someone else, and this doesn’t have to be with the opposite sex. Sometimes a kiss from priest is a sign of good gesture and can be looked upon as a great honor while a kiss from a mob boss is a sign of dishonor and disloyalty.
He is saying always be happy and carefree. Do whatever you need to be happy. He says “drunken with wine, poetry, or virtue, as you will”. What makes you happy may be different than everyone else but that does not make it wrong. Nothing can be that bad if it makes you happy.
However because of subtexts known as unstated or hidden messages used in these advertisements we buy those things anyway because it had convinced us it will make us look cool or we’ll have fun with it.Cover girl sounds convincing that this lips gloss will not make our lips sticky and that it makes our lips shine. In this ad Eva’s lips appears to be very glossy. Do you believe that the lip gloss really does make them shine or that they edited her lips that way? Also in this ad the persuasive strategy used is pathos. Eva is very happy while wearing this lips gloss.
In agreement with Gatsby, Prufrock was also so in love, he questioned the true essence behind it. “And would it have been worth it, after all, After the cups, the marmalade, the tea, Among the porcelain, among some talk of you and me,” (Eliot
This type of love tends to occur in those with low self-esteem and those who gain confidence in pleasing their love interest. Mania and agape love are similar in that they both have the ability to develop into a very intense and unhealthy relationship for both parties. In both instances the parties involved have the ability to lose their sense of reality. The styles of love that have been most prevalent in my life are logical love called pragma, and friendship love called storge or philia. A love that develops from a friendship usually prevents a lot of disappointments because you already know a lot about that person.
As Benedick confesses his love to Beatrice, so too does she. “It were as possible for me to say I loved nothing so well as you. But believe me not, and yet I lie not. I confess nothing nor I deny nothing.” (4.1) They are surprised to hear the other admitting so easily to it, but the sheer joy which follows is clear “I love you with so much of my heart that none is left to protest.” The interactions between Beatrice and Benedick show us that people often hide behind masks in fear of the unknown, that self-deceit isn’t always the best thing for us and that sometimes we must take a leap of faith to discover
In the beginning, there is tension, then sexual fulfillment, and ultimately happiness and satisfaction, as is reflected at the end when the sun comes out. Afterwards they even feel happier, with no shred of guilt or regret. They also are more understanding towards their families, as seen through their actions. For example, when Bobinôt and Bibi came back they were greeted with kisses instead of arguments. Bobinôt and Bibi were not used to this treatment, after all Bibi had come back dirty.
Lust is something that can be turned into love. It just takes two true people to make that work. Two people that can find themselves looking into each others eyes wondering what tomorrow will bring is what makes you fall in love. Love and lust have very different meanings. You see that love is more durable than lust.
Characters like Portia and Bassanio, and Jessica and Lorenzo are shown to be madly in love with each other. This romantic love that they share helps them tide of crisis like choosing the right casket and escaping from Shylock respectively. Also, this love is shown to be able to cause characters to be self sacrificial and able to overlook their partners small mistakes, for example to overlook the
Romantic love is universal across cultures yet folklore is the most fruitful meaning to the examination of it. However, we can’t really distinguish love from sexual attraction in a such culture because of the influence of Solomon and Shakespeare’s songs, which can push others to use powerful poetic expression to display their feelings, especially in western societies. Also, other imported cultural ideas can be expressing thru folk tales as well as suppressing emotions and moral tales. Consequently, some charming stories implanted in literature or songs in a specific society cannot contribute as manifest or proof that romantic love is valued and experienced by most members in that society. As a result, the validity of “romantic love” is universal relies on the examination at which this declaration has been made.
