I tried a few classes here and there and it was something that seemed to be a temporary thing to occupy time. I was young and didn’t realize what college was going to mean to my adulthood challenges. After finally accepting a full time job that could lead to a career for some time it became clear that college would have been a good choice for me to have been successful. I quickly began to attend college classes through my employer to make gains in my career and try to possibly secure my future.
Is College Worth it? Everyone in the United States wants to achieve the “American Dream”. People want to be able to provide a stable life for their families. A college education has been a must to grow in the work industry. But during this economic recession, college students have been having a difficult time staying in the college path, especially working class students.
College Student Journal says, “College student success and graduation are important to students seeking a degree and to the nation's communities, yet only just better than half of the students who enroll in 4-year colleges and universities will receive a bachelor's degree within 6 years (Sparkman, Maulding & Roberts, 2012).” In any new career journey it could be intimidating at first. Because doing something new and unfamiliar can quickly change your mind about whether you will stick with it or not, it is important to have a clear reason as to why going back to college is the next step, goals that will keep your end result in mind, and a positive attitude about the new adventure. Proving to oneself that they can achieve something that once seemed so far can give you the courage to go after other challenges that may have seemed impossible or

Core vs. flexible hrs As reviewing some of your files I also discovered that one of your founding principles is to have core workforce. I believe that a mixture of core and flexible workforce is essential in the retail industry. By having a core workforce your are eliminating potential good candidates from applying to your positions. People who go to college usually look for flexible employment which lets them work and go to school; with these kind of employees you have potential college graduates who can decide to stay and grow with your company.
College right after highs school is not for everyone. I do believe that all people can benefit from a college degree when the time is right for them. Returning to college later in life can be the result of real life career experience and the realization of what it really takes to get ahead in life. Motivation, learning style, and career goals can have a great impact on your success or failure as an adult student. I tried college right after high school but dropped out because I felt like I was wasting time and money.

During my time at American Public University I hope to gain a well rounder education. I also hope to meet new people, I find other cultures interesting and in a college environment it is interesting the different types of people I can get to know. I have heard the phrase “Technology is king” used before and I have come to believe that, that is a true statement. I first came in contact with a computer when I joined the Navy.
Learning Against Grades In this society, students are encouraged to pursue a higher education after graduating from high school. Yet, each individual has a different reason for desiring to move on to college. Students attend college either because they want to increase their knowledge, get a decent paying job after college, or they just want to get the “college” experience instead of going on to the working force after high school. As a first-year college student, I pictured college to be a “… place for learning and growth…” (Jerry Faber, 387), but I was slightly wrong. Everyday I stress over earning a good grade in my classes, instead of being driven to learn the material of the course.
Adults returning to college will have the benefit of increased self-esteem, the ability to change professions, and future opportunities for advancement in their current careers. On the other hand, we have Linda Lee’s essay “The Case Against College” explaining that college is not for everyone. Students in high school that choose not to apply themselves should not attend college. These students may not be ready for the heavy course work, the expenses, or the dedication of time needed to earn their degree. Although both authors prove strong points it is obvious that whether your choice is college or trade school, as long as you apply yourself you will be guaranteed future success.
Effects of going to College. College in general has a big impact on our life and careers. I do think that its important you go to a post secondary school that has the required prerequisites for your field of education, and that has the ability to challenge you. What's more important is that you take the advantage of opportunities at any college that you choose to go to. The importance of getting a college education makes a person strong and more confident about them selfs.
