Why most humans seek beauty is as interesting as it is deep. In order to study why most humans seek beauty, define “beauty.” “Beauty is the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure” (www.dictionaryreference.com). In my thinking, beauty can be found in every single thing that exists by at least someone. Beauty is what people refer to as God, or all that is, and the people seek God or “beauty” to find meaning or verification of their very existence. Looking at a beach or mountain, we would say those are the most beautiful things. Also, we seek beauty because we are made that way from birth. As Marley grew he would have sought out friends and acquaintances that he found beautiful. Growing up from a young girl, I use to cry because I wanted my mother to buy me outfits that matched. But as I got older, I told myself I don’t have to match because other kids are matching. I see beauty in my own eyes. Whatever I think is cute, even if it’s ugly, I would get it, and it would be my own style. In “Catch a Fire,” Marley is the same way. He seeks his own beauty, the way he wants to seek it.
