Children Exposed to Violence: Criminal Justice Resource As we hear about the children exposed to violence though out the media and the internet, it’s sad that most children has to experience harsh violence in their lifetime. The worst thing is for a child that has to sit there and watch somebody else such as their father abuse the mother. The media shows that there are a lot of children across the world suffer the consequences of violence in their homes, in their schools, and in their community. These are some things I will be discussing about in my paper. Children become so involve in the domestic violence and suffer the full consequences of a bad home life.
“Bullying is a big problem that effects millions of students, and it has everyone worried, not just the kids on it’s receiving end” (Lyness 1). Bullying does not just affect kids, but the parents too. It affects the parents because a lot of their children begin to be afraid attending school. In the novel Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, Melinda was affected by being bullied lead her to think about suicide, scared of coming to school, and victims like Melinda begin to not care about school and fail. Melinda was affected by being bullied and led to many things and one of them is thinking about suicide.
The youth are affected by becoming desensitized at an early age; laughing at death, mocking the injured, showing no remorse (Grossman 502). Young adults that had been exposed to this violence at a young age are getting ahold of guns and ammunition killing convenience store owner’s by ‘accident’ (Grossman 503). Their conditioning and reflex motor skills activate, Operant Conditioning, causing stimulus response to assimilate in an impulsive manner. Exposing children to war brutality through media is conditioning them to breed violence. Killing is a trained skill forced upon a man; viciously cycled through younger age groups.
Also similar to many school shooters, Harris and Klebold were found to be victims of bullying. Perpetrators of school killings frequently voice severe anger and isolation preceding their actions. They may have a history of violence, or uncommon inappropriate and extreme behaviors at school.. Parents are a big problem in this issue; some don’t care what their kids
They may endure sleepless nights and loose sleep making them tired and unable to concentrate when at school. They may become disruptive in the classroom as they feel the need for attention. Should the child unfortunately be a victim of abuse, then this transtition in their life will affect them deeply, often leaving long term effects. An abused child will feel scared, alone and depressed. Their trust in adults will diminish rapidly, making them feel like they have no one to turn to.
Spanking your child without telling your child what they did wrong or why they are being punished can leave a child feeling unloved and undeseable. Some parents have been known to torment their child for every little thing they have done wrong, instead of using spanking as a form of discipline. Parents that have not been properly taught by other parents before them on the proper way to spank, can spank their child too much and have a child becoming violent and non good person for the society. A spanking should be a last recur. A parent should first explain to their child what he/she did wrong.
Research shows that bullying is a very controversial subject that can be seen as a crime to some but not to others depending on the nature and severity of the bullying. It is a widespread problem that unfortunately most children have to go through at some point in their lives. Bullying is a conscious, wilful, deliberate, hostile and repeated behaviour by one or more people which is intended to harm others. What do people in today’s society really think of bullying? What can they do to help these victims?
The child prostitute has to endure feelings of hopelessness, abandonment, insomnia, nightmares and constantly being degraded by the johns and the pimps. These unfortunate children have to live with the mental anguish of feeling betrayed by adults that are supposed to be protecting these children rather than exploiting them. If the child prostitute is fortunate enough to escape the claws of their abusers, all the torment,( both physical and mental) makes it difficult to reintroduce these tortured souls back into normal
Bullying Bullying is a way to intimidate someone or a way to make someone do what they want a person to do. Bullying is a form of abuse that can be emotional or physical. Victims of bullying usually lose interest in their school work and become depressed and eventually either drop out or commit suicide. People are bullied because of their race, ethnicity, gender, disability, religion, or sexual orientation. According to statistics about one fourth of all students from elementary through high school are victims of bullying.
Many serial killers have early developmental deficiencies or a history of childhood abuse. This usually means that there was no or very little responsible caretaking. Their mothers tended to be “domineering and controlling, punitive and rejecting, or overprotective and seductive, while the fathers were (literally and symbolically) absent.” (Knight, 2006) The sense of rejection and self-esteem is then instilled in them from their childhood to adulthood. It has been very much suggested that many of these individuals may be subconsciously killing their mothers or fathers, having their feelings displaced for the mother or father, say, onto women or men. Nonetheless, many people have negative childhood experiences and torturing and killing people does not even cross their minds.
