Who was the first president of the United States?

The professor told us that the first president of the United States was John Hanson in 1781-1782 A.D and that he was black. So there it goes information that I thought was fact that was taught to us over and over again out the door. After all these years been taught that George Washington was the first president and then that President Barack Obama was the first black president. To find out that this might not be a fact.
