March 8, 12 Who the #$& is Jackson Pollock movie review In the 2006 movie “who the #$& is Jackson Pollock?” A truck driver named Terri purchases a painting in a thrift store for a friend for five dollars. After bringing it to her friend and came to the conclusion that her friend thought it was ugly, she decided to sell it in a garage sale. During the garage sale an art teacher comes across the painting and claims that the painting could very possibly be the work of none other than Jackson Pollock. After finding this out she goes through the troubles and hardships of trying to prove the authenticity of the artwork. In her attempt to prove that the painting is an original work of Pollock she takes the painting to be looked at by a professional art critique. The critique claimed it was not an original but Terri wouldn’t take that as a conclusion to the painting. Instead she chose to continue trying to prove the paintings authenticity. In doing so she came across a forensic expert which actually helped her not only prove that the paint used in her painting matched the paint from Pollock’s studio, but also made a fingerprint match from her painting and two other confirmed Pollock paintings. This was also confirmed by a fingerprint specialist. Even though there was a clear match the art world remained skeptical, and did not believe that the painting was an original Jackson Pollock. One of the reasons why that the work has not been recognized is because the records of where it has been from the artist to where it is today are nowhere to be found. This seems to be a crucial factor simply because there is no signature on the painting to prove it was done by him as well. Personally I think that although there is no signature on the work.
