However, it has often been said of Henry, 'No man has ascended to the throne with such a lack of financial experience and resources as Henry VII.' S. B. Chrimes. I think Henry was successful in increasing wealth of the crown, this is because Henry used ordinary revenue fairly well, for example the crown lands. These were this kings most important source of revenue. Henry VII had more crown lands than any previous king and some lands had been confiscated under the acts of attainder meaning more money for the crown.
The great thought of been wealthy and having luxurious objects excites oneself. This idea that materialistic things are going to make us happy can be a disappointing to those who have it all (money, cars, women ) and are still not happy .Media gives us a fake or rather an illusion of what we need ,what we desire ,what we love .We all want to be successful and have a life just like Jay Gatsby ,to be known as a hero and to be know as a wealthy successful person . But is that all we are in this world for ? is that all that our heart and body really wants? , or is that something that our mind has been forced with all this media .When we die would people come to our funeral because its in their heart or because it will benefit their pocket. I feel like the way the book was written was for the reader to really get a sense of the life that The Gatsby was living , the amount of people who knew him or off him .
He states many times that profits/supply & demand are leading causes for what makes too high for lower class people to afford. If companies didn’t try to make such a high profit then could the poor afford what they need? This is unfair and unjust because Lewis is saying the rich should reap the benefits of a thriving and successful business.
Tom and Daisy the two people that stood very low in his eyes now. Daisy is Nick’s cousin a young lady who ditched Gatsby and married Tom, just because Gatsby was poor. When Gatsby came into Daisy’s life again she pretended to like him but at the end once again the result was fleeing away without saying anything. “But she and Tom had gone away early this afternoon and taken baggage with them.” (Pg-164) Daisy and Tom left the day of Gatsby’s funeral, it’s very obvious that they knew Gatsby was dead because he was so famous and this news was in newspapers as well, but they still didn’t ever bother to come see him. Hence they were cruel and selfish that’s why Nick refused to shake hands with Tom when they met again.
Overall Daisy Buchanan is what motivates Jay Gatsby’s actions and causes mayhem in his life. Jay Gatsby is a very rich man, but not many people know that his wealth is him trying to gain the one person he loves. After returning from the military Gatsby became a very wealthy man, and most don’t know where his money comes from, or why he has it, they just enjoy attending his extravagant parties. At every party Gatsby will check in to see who is there, then disappear. No one understands these odd actions, but what he really is doing is checking if Daisy happens to be there, because she is all he cares about.
On one occasion, they set him up, but Orgon did not believe anything that was said until he himself saw that Orgon was making passes at his wife. Luckily for Tartuffe, he had seen the letters that Orgon kept and demanded that he should be the one to leave the house. However, a twist of things happened and Orgon recovered his house while his hypocrite friend was imprisoned (Molière 63). With reference to social obligations and personal happiness, this story explores some of the challenges that people go through in an attempt to
The story of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Great Gatsby, shows how Gatsby became a wealthy and a great man after he was poor. He was a non wealthy person but after he met Daisy and fell for her love, he had a dream to be wealthy and to marry her. She was a motivation for him to become a great man, and also the reason for his fall. Love, a word of four letters has changed Gatsby’s life and behavior. It made him a non-ordinary person to the people that knew him.
Anyone who works hard, and pursues the ultimate goal of happiness, can, and will, live a fulfilling life. In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald uses the character of Gatsby to critique the idea of the American Dream. He uses Gatsby because, although he is an example of the American Dream, in the way that he went from rags to riches, he also contradicts the American Dream. He got to where he was because of illegal actions, not hard honest work. And yet there are people in the world, represented by Wilson in this book, that do work hard, honest jobs, yet they still suffer.
