(Penrice “Martin…”) Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was extremely effective in bringing the white and black societies together in a peaceful manner. With his use of rhetoric devices and non-violent attitude, audiences believed as though they were being saved (Wells “Comparing…”). For example, King was able to hold the very first Negro non-violent demonstration with a record breaking 382 days. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was effective in bringing about change in the civil rights movement because of his non-violent philosophy and his determination to bring the two societies together. With that being said, on December 21, 1956, The Supreme Court declared segregation unconstitutional thanks to the contribution from many, but especially the King himself.

In 1955 a year after the first Brown V. Board of Education case Rosa Parks stood her ground in a bus. Making another huge impact in the U.S. Causing boycotts and protests, mainly led by Martin Luther King Junior. The case even paved the way for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which was then followed by the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Fair Housing Act of 1968, both were monumental in the fight for Civil Rights. Private Schools even had to participate in the ruling also, In 1974, in the Runyon V. McCrary Court Case, the verdict was that if a private school didn't want to enroll a student because of race was violating civil right laws.
However some men and women did stand up against this treatment and fought for their civil rights and for this they are preserved in history for their bravery. One of these people was Rosa Parks who many historians believed sparked the modern civil rights movement in America in December 1955. She unintentionally became an inspiration to thousands of African American citizens with her simple act of defiance on a bus one a cold, wet night on December 1st 1955. In this essay I am going to explore the life of Rosa Parks and how it led up to that night in December when she finally said enough was enough. Rosa Parks was born in Tuskegee, Alabama in February 1913.
After this incident he gained a good national reputation. A year later in 1956 the United States Supreme Court rules Montgomery to desegregate buses. Two years later he Writes about the bus boycott. The book was called “Stride Toward Freedom”. Martin Luther King Jr. went to visit India to study disobedience and nonviolence.
Additionally, Rustin organized the March on Washington that took place in 1963. Rosa Parks was another great American who influenced King through her courage and foresight. Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her bus seat in an era when the black race was forced to stand at the back of public busses. This heroic and risky demonstration took place in December of 1955, and was followed by a year-long bus boycott by the African-American community in Montgomery, Alabama. As the president of the Montgomery Improvement Association, Martin Luther King, Jr. headed up this demonstration
The Civil Rights Movement started and ended at 1955-1968. The major participants in the Civil Rights Movement were Rosa Parks, Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Really begins in Montgomery, Alabama of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The reason of this boycott was so that black people can sit anywhere they wanted, instead of being sent to the back of the bus when white people got on. But the most important person in the Montgomery boycott, by refusing to give up her seat to a white person that just got on the bus and after, she was arrested. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. then became the spokesman of the boycott.
Martin Luther king started off in a career as a Baptist minister and then inspired on to become a civil rights activist early in his career. Martin Luther king experienced racial prejudice due to the colour of his skin. Martin felt that all the protests should be non-violent tactics by doing this many civil rights activists were keen to follow and copy martin, and in 1955 he held the Montgomery bus boycott, this is where they would boycott city buses until they could sit anywhere they wanted, instead of being relegated to the back when a white boarded. Martin Luther king led in 1963 the march on Washington where king delivered his “i have a dream” speech. Over 250,000 people turned up to listen to him.
She later made her living as a seamstress. On February 4, 1913, Rosa Parks instigated the Montgomery, Alabama, bus boycott of 1955 to 1956. She did this by refusing to give up her seat on a city bus to a white passenger as required by law. Although secretary of the local branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored people, Rosa Parks acted alone. Her defiance and the successful boycott cost her livelihood until she moved to Detroit in 1957.
