Did George Orwell (Author of 1984) want to leave us with a sensation of desperation or contentment at the end of the book? In my opinion, I reckon that George Orwell wants us to feel desperation at the end of this book. Then again, I think that he wants us to feel contentment at the end also. There are very adept reasons why I am not one sided with my choice and answer. The reason why I endured desperation towards the extent of the book (1984) is, because Winston Smith has been fully and utterly defeated by the system. Throughout the course of the book, I was waiting and hoping that Winston would become victorious in some way. I truly dislike the society a lot and I agree with what Winston Smith is doing and I really want him to win. If he had won in some type of way, I would allege that Orwell is proclaiming that the human spirit will win in the extent of time.…show more content…
It really and truly makes or turns into the assumption that this will possibly and always be the case why that human nature is not likely to change. Explaining that, we know, interpret and accept this strongly in to open arms. It is more an attempt at garnering a wider acceptance, a realistic perspective of the human condition and human motivation, that George Orwell is leaving us with. If we know what doesn't work, then we are better able to find something else that will work. Thomas Edison explained to us and once said that, "I have not failed. I've exactly just found 10,000 ways that will not work" and this is how George Orwell wants us to clearly see. Communism/Socialism in its purest form does not work, but that does not mean that there isn't some other form of governance where a person advocates, supports, and that will work. Us as people today will just have to accept the knowledge of what didn't turn out good or work in order to move on to the task of finding and exploring something really that actually truly
