Who I Am and How I Learn Who I Am and How I Learn Who I am and how I learn? This is a question that if mastered could reveal a world of accomplishments and achievements. In this essay I will cover how I decided the type of learner I am, how it has helped, and how it has hurt me in my journey to a college degree. This is a brief look into how I chose my college path, what my learning style is, and how these things influenced what my “Grand Type” is. It all started in my adolescence when I was trying to decide what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go. I always knew that I wanted my life path to include a career in the Marine Corps and a college degree. I tried community college for a while and at that point in my life it just wasn’t the right fit for me. My full attention and focus on a degree were non-existent at that time. Getting a degree has always been important to me, but I didn’t know how achieve one. So instead of finishing community college I enlisted in the Military. Fast-forward 13 years, and here I am writing a personal essay as my college degree is finally coming to fruition. Whether it is the fact that I am 32 years old and more mature or the fact that I now know where a college degree can take me, I am happy that I am finally on this path. In beginning of this journey I knew I had to teach myself how to learn and comprehend the things I was being taught in my classes. This is where I had to find my learning style. Choosing a learning style is quite the arduous task. First, you must find out who you are and how you absorb things mentally. So, as I pondered this question I thought about the 13 years I have spent in the Marine Corps and all of the learning experiences that I have come across in that time.
