Which is more important? National wealth or natural environment? Can you choose both? ‘Which is more important? National wealth or natural environment? Can you choose both?’ Assalammualaikum and a very good morning I bid to all Ladies and gentlemen, Please lend me your ears, because today I will be talking about two very important subjects to the development of our country. As you are aware, our country is moving forward to achieve as a developed nation in year 2020. In year 2020, we look forward to being a developed nation and Malaysians will have the standard of living more than four times of today. I would like to stress these two important things which is vital in order to achieve vision 2020. These two things are about managing our wealth and protecting our environment. According to the faithful and loyal search engine, Google, national wealth means the sum for the economy as a whole of non-financial assets and net claims on the rest of the world. In short, national wealth simply means the measure of a country’s economic resources. As in Malaysia, we are a relatively wealthy country as we have petroleum, manufacturing, agro industries, tourism and financial services. Natural environment means our rainforest, our seas, mountains, ringus, lakes and our costal areas. Mostly our natural surrounding is as what we know as Mother Earth. National wealth and natural environment are both important to our country because our country is a developing country. And we need to balance our wealth and our environment. Because without our environment where else can we stay? We need to preserve our natural environment so that we and our children can actually live in a safe and comfortable environment later on in the future.
