What’s driving U.S. Health Care Cost? HCA 305 the U.S Health Care System March 7, 2013 When we think of the United States, we think of the richest, most powerful country in the world. Yet, health care is not readily available to the people that live within this country and the cost keep rising. At a time when health care rates are increasing, so are our diseases. There are a multitude of factors that influence the steady rising price of health care. There is no single cause of the escalating cost of health care in America —significant cost drivers are embedded throughout the system. In this proposal I will go over some of the key factors that influence health care cost to include: * Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) * Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) * Evaluate the differences in health care cost here in the U.S vs other countries * Evaluation of stakeholders as the primary reason for rising prices? * Background of health care cost and how it has changed over the years * Current policy and the future of health care. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) calls for numerous regulatory and structural reforms to the health care insurance market, as well as demonstrations and pilot programs to encourage the development of coordinated care delivery and payment systems. Many experts predict that these reforms will decrease the number of uninsured Americans and encourage higher quality care, as well as help control costs (Economic Policy Program, 2012). Over the years, the U.S. health care system has been under scrutiny and the subject of much debate. Some Americans believe, the U.S has one of the best health care systems in the world because of the many modern technologies that are available.
