“Reunion” by John Cheever is a short story about Charlie who hasn’t seen his father since his parents’ divorce. So on his way back to his mother’s house he schedules a lunch with his father. Yet Charlie’s view on his father changes when his father continually has problems controlling his bad attitude. In “Powder and “Reunion” the authors use father/son relationships, point of view and conflict to portray to the reader that almost all father and son relationships have their flaws. In the two short stories it seems as if the sons’ relationships with their father were quite different, but they also had their similarities because both of them cared for their son.

Both girls did very bad things to one another, but it is best to see the evidence from the opposing side first so a decision can be made on who is more of a victim. Elaine was a huge target for Lysandra’s anger to be disposed upon. Elaine won the poetry contest fairly by a meritocratic poem about a “shipwreck.” (128) In return, Lysandra ignored Elaine ever since she lost. Elaine tried to be to a good sport about winning, but even Lysandra’s family does not respect her anymore. Her father said “You!” and shut the door right in her face.
She hates wearing dresses. She is happy wearing her Roy Rogers outfit, even in temple. She feels the curious and angry stares as she passes by the question, "Is that a boy or a girl?" follows her around. The contempt of her parents and the hatred of most of her

Assignment 1: Character In Maya Angelou’s autobiography “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings”, the readers get to know the protagonist lacks self confidence; however, she is an imaginative and courageous black girl when she is young. First, she lacks self-confidence. On Easter morning, she realizes that her Easter dress is only a white woman’s throwaway, which “[makes her] skin look dirty like mud, and everyone in church [is] looking at [her] skinny legs”. She feels like a second class person. When she moves to St. Louis and sees her mother for the first time, she is struck by her mother’s beauty.
Protesters were violent to Ruby. Ruby went to an all white’s school according to the article “through my eyes.” In the text of “Goin’ Someplace Special” the main character Tricia Ann thinks segregation is not fair. In the passage it says that “It is not fair glaring at the empty seats in the front.” Some black students didn’t even have books. There were some black students that were lucky enough to have books. I think “separate but equal will never be fair.” “Separate but equal” will never be fair.
Some of these groups and people included ‘Malcolm X’, Rosa Parks, and ‘The Black Panthers’. Malcolm X saw King’s campaign as trying to persuade the African American citizens to forget the days of slavery, and forget what the white men had done to their people. His stance was passive/aggressive and wanted equality by any means, including violence. Malcolm X was assassinated by a white supremacist during a speech and died of bullet wounds. Also, ‘The Black Panthers’ were a very violent group and saw King’s campaign as time consuming and feared it being forgotten in the process.
The only thing I could come to like was her independency, I have a lot of respect for woman who can take care of themselves or well for the most part at least. Her new year’s resolution was to stop smoking and lose weight. In the book she complained about how her being fat she thinks no one likes her. On page 15 she says; “Ugh cannot face thought of going to work. Only thing that makes it tolerable that I get to see Daniel again, but even that is inadvisable since I’m fat, have a spot on chin, and only desire to sit on cushion while eating chocolates and watching Xmas specials.” She reminded me of the girls that always have to be in a relationship.
. At the start of the play, Medea’s nurse has briefly introduced the plot, telling how Medea gave up everything for Jason and helped him achieve what he wanted, only for him to then go and leave her to marry a princess. She talks about how badly Medea has reacted to what he has done, and the bad state she is in. The tutor then enters with Medea and Jason’s two sons. The nurse informs him how distraught Medea is and warns the tutor to keep the boys away from her, as Medea seems to hate them and the nurse isn’t sure what Medea will do to them when she is in this state.
