Her mom always knew her way around a good deal and therefore she hustled to put them in private school. She also traded cleaning services for a neighborhood doctor to make sure her kids had good healthcare. Ursula adds that her mother was her biggest influence for joining Xerox. Her mother Olga was pragmatic, focused and extremely practical, but was the ultimate self determining person. In 1980, Burns first worked for Xerox as a summer intern.
This has been an effective parenting style and has helped Loke adapt well to her world. All of the “face time” and affection given to her was a choice made by using the authoritative parenting style. Whenever Loke cried, she was held and comforted. When she ran into obstacles at school, she was given emotional support, but encouraged to continue with the task. As an example, Loke was nervous about joining the swim team at school, but did very well once encouraged.
Jasmine is a productive and wonderful girl , she is very friendly to everyone that she meets she is intelligent as well. Jasmine tries her hardest in all her subjects. Never gives up and any assignment that is given to her. She always strives to get higher then an 85 as a grade , and if she fails to complete her goal she will get mad and try even harder to get the grade she wants. For instance in her algebra class , when her teacher explains the way to solve the problem or what ever they may be learning that day she would understand it the first time she hears him explain it.
Leigh was very sporty and athletic with green eyes and brown golden hair and always managed to maintain an A average in her studies on top of her busy sports schedule. Julia and Leigh were both on the year book committee and the school council together. Almost every single day in and after school they were together. They always stood beside each other and stood up for one another. In the hall one day Jamie Jadestone one of the most popular girls in school came over to Julia and tried to start trouble, but to bad Julia is a smart cookie and can get herself out of bad situations she just simply said “Get out of the way” and walked on and that was in between second and third hour time and Jamie was in Julia’s next class.
Tammy made decent grades all throughout her grade and high school years. She spent a lot of her time outdoors and also helping her mother Birdie cook huge meals every Sunday in their kitchen. Tammy had many dreams of what she would become as an adult and often could not wait to grow up and experience anything and everything the world had to offer. During Tammy’s young adulthood she was a slim, petite young woman and was very active. She ate home cooked meals almost all the time and was in great health.

Rosaleen loves Lilly like she were her own daughter, protects her and guides her as she grows into a new person and has a realization of self. Rosaleen’s love of Lilly became apparent to the latter when she was a small child in South Carolina.
I am so very excited to see them excel in school. My little Evie is three and all she talks about is school, how she cannot wait to go and truthfully I can’t wait for her to go either. You see, once my girls are in school I will be able to go back to work and have adult conversations on a regular basis again. My days of changing dirty diapers, potty training, and watching cartoons all day will be behind me. Then I read the part of Welty’s story where Phoenix has to cross the creek and she said “Now comes the trial”.
I believe Mrs. Williams left an impact on every child who was blessed enough to have her. When compared to a few other teachers I have had, there is a very practical reason why Mrs. Williams sticks out. Her thoughtfulness and cheeriness top the charts. Mrs. Williams has influenced me so greatly that I have decided to become an English teacher. I only hope to be half as great as her.
Her parents got the best tutors and followed the most prestigious lesson plans they could find, triple checked that they were teaching her everything, and even went as far as to set up an appointment with every one of her teachers to make sure that she was on the right track. They were positive she was prepared so then why was she not doing well?
