The “drama” of the visit created hype as never seen before.14 The American people believed in the sentimentality of the trip.15 They really thought that this trip would change the course of the whole world forever, which needless to say, it was not. Television turned “what should have been a useful, diplomatic operation into a theatrical piece,” remarked a disgusted writer of the time. He believes that television was used to make the trip more than it was. He thinks that the trip to China was “propaganda-d” into the hearts and minds of the American people to show Nixon as the favorable candidate.16 Gallup polls indicate that the President’s approval rating before the announcement of his trip to China was 40.2%. But after the announcement it rose to 49.7%, an increase of almost ten percent!17 It is clear that the Nixon administration wished for the visit to China to affect the voting preferences of the American people and to make them see their President in a new light.
This increase in power made many countries and governments hungry for more power and would do anything to find it. The only thing that stood between Europe and the East were the Muslims. Europeans had been searching for a cheaper and easier route to the East for quite some time but when Marco Polo came back from his almost twenty year journey to China, their desire to find this new route became even more intense. Marco Polo brought back with him tales of luxurious items like rose-tinted pearls and golden pagodas. they realized more than ever that they needed to find this new route to the East.
The changes of the 13th and 14th century greatly affected the Chinese and changed China forever. It was the first time ever that the Chinese had been ruled, watched over, and governed by non-native Chinese people. Also, it discontinued the ‘art’ of foot binding for most of the population. The system of government created by Kublai Khan was made up of a deal made between Mongolian feudalism and the traditional Chinese autocratic-bureaucratic system. But still, socially the educated Chinese elite were in general not given the degree of esteem that they had been accorded previously under native Chinese dynasties.
China is a bustling nation, but could it be the next world superpower? For one it certainly has potential, with the army, manpower, technology, and money they sure could rise to the top at any rate. Not only does china have all of this, but America still owes them money and they also make everything for America, they could cut off this supply line if they needed to which could lead to problems for the great young nation. China could undeniably be a world superpower in the near future or further. Like stated China has the man power to do just about anything quickly even working on extremely large projects could be a breeze for china.
Lao-Tzu and Today’s American Society There are dozens of tactics that thousands of leaders have tried throughout history to come up with the perfect way which to run a government and a nation. Some leaders and masters think violence is necessary and see power and victory in fighting and winning a war. Others see the importance of peace and agree that there is no need for violence for any matter whatsoever. Twenty-five hundred years ago life was much different and the necessities for the average person varied drastically than those of today. What was cherished could have been a cup of rice, as compared to today where fast pace technology rules the world and the average American cannot go a day without a device to be in constant communication
to 1650 A.D. Columbus did not find the Americas. Therefore, he should not have been given credit for finding the Americas when he did not even have the knowledge to know he was really in Americas, not Asia. Giving the credit to Columbus is quite frankly unfair to Native Americans and should be a rather disappointment to the United States human society. It has been said that Columbus “proved the world is round.” Educated peoples in Europe already knew the world was a sphere about more than 1,500 years before Columbus was born. He thought he could reach Asia by sailing west from Europe, taking approximately 12,000 miles.
He was determined to surpass what nature threw at him and used what he learned to renew himself. The reward he received was being able to live in a way similar to the life he’s always wanted. This was what helped him grow as a person spiritually by letting him find closure and peace with himself. Aron Ralston was also one that enjoyed solo adventures. He took them as a chance to unwind and escape from work or life in general.

I believe it is very significant to the country’s history because it shows the reader how much of a problem the US has had with immigration since the 1800’s! The fact that the Chinese were “unlike” the US citizens in some ways did NOT give the government the right to completely revoke all immigration from
