WHAT TO DO BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE. People are running in fear searching for shelter. Hell is breaking loose, the ground is shaking like it is the end of the world. Buildings appeared to be built to fall like card houses. This is the endgame between the mother nature and human race. Is it a scenery of a new catastrophic movie directed by Steven Spielberg? No, this is the real footage from the earthquake which happened in Haiti. People who inhabit such islands like Haiti are taught how to behave when the earthquake occurs. They surely know what to do before, during, and after earthquakes. Firstly before an earthquake you surely have to secure every unstable object in its house, e.g. TV, furniture, vases and bookshelves. Make sure you have the fire extinguisher, first aid kit, fully operating radio, flashlight and…show more content…
Another step is what to do during the disaster. People which stay inside or outside should stay where they are. If you are inside, seek shelter under the table or in the basement – take the ‘chest’ with you. During an earthquake you should not drive a car or travel in any other way, just stay calm in one place. If you are outside, stay away from the buildings, keep together with other people and always check your surroundings. Gather together and listen to the emergency radio forecast. Finally after the earthquake make sure that you are safe. Provide first aid to injured and call your family to check if everything is alright. Stay away from broken buildings because they might fall on you and do not turn off your radio to be up on the information. The best thing you can do is to go to the nearest hospital and help medics with your supplies. Also stay away from the beaches – earthquakes often provide tsunamis which are far more dangerous than the quakes itself.
