Mass media is designed to reach a large audience, whether it is in the form of a news paper, broadcasted over the TV and radio or spoken. Mass media is what controls and monitors, reflects and creates what it is that we consider being our culture. I feel that the most important function of mass media is to influents people in their decision making and acceptance of certain things. Media has always played a huge role in our lives from keep us informed about the latest in political concerns, who’s who in the movies, news and even what trends to follow or not. Everything that we do is apart of or transformed by our views from media that we watch, read or hear. Mass media is the reason for why the world as vast as it is can be considered such a small place. With the advances in technology it is easier for us to stay connected with not only local news and updates but those that happen around the world, and we have mass media to thank for that. Depending on what it is that we watch, read or listen to can determine what we think, how we feel and even how we react to those events. With TV, which is a huge contributor to mass media we are constantly being bombarded with what is considered to be socially accepted in the eyes of the media. For example, we are always seeing images of skinny woman, fad diets to try out and what to wear from the latest fashion runway outfits to hair colors. Not only do we see these images that force what media considers ‘beauty’ but what movies and shows to watch, what brands to buy and what food to eat. Every time you turn on the television you are seeing images of clothing lines like Jordan, Nike and Adidas; weight loss diet plans like Nutrisystem, Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig and reality TV shows like the Real Housewives, Dancing with the Stars etc. Mass media tells use what it is that we should watch, what we should eat, how we
