My Contribution To The University Community In FAMU

I possess many great qualities as well as have unique characteristics that will allow me to contribute to the university community at FAMU. In my wonderful 18 years of living, I feel that my life experiences, along with my parents’ guidance, have provided me with such great qualities and character over the years. One experience in particular was transferring to a strange town with little or no acquaintances which I found at first to be somewhat challenging. For me, it was like being dropped into another country that you have never been to before and having to build from the ground up, while trying to figure out the obstacles on your own without any true guidance. However, I feel that one must be able to explore the opportunities around them and take advantage of them to truly learn and grow. My mother always told me that “one of life best teachers is life itself.” While going through the experience of moving to somewhere unfamiliar, I learned that one of my greatest qualities is being able to produce great work while under pressure and in unfamiliar territories. The University and I share a similar vision “that education is the key to achieving success”. I am a very strong and independent person, and I will be able to tackle the multiple challenges that await me when I become a college student. Entering a college campus comes with trials and errors; learning and growing; falling down and getting back up and it is very much different from high school because you will be the one determining if you make it or not! I am planning on majoring in Psychology at FAMU which deals with people and their well-being. In this field, there isn’t much room for mistakes because you are dealing with decisions that may affect a person for the rest of their life. So, my goal is to learn as much as I can and gain the knowledge that I need to become the professional that my family, the university and I can be proud
