Research paper on “Psychology at work” AjdenBrati University of New York Tirana Abstract If we understand how people are motivated, we can encourage them to be their best and do their best at work. The more people are motivated to be successful and achieve the goals set for them, the more the confidence in their abilities will grow as well, which can, in turn, make them even more motivated. Motivation can come from two major sources: Self-motivation and motivation from external factors. The combined incorporation of these two sources may bring the best out of an employee’s performance at the workplace. According to its definition, motivation is internal and external factors that stimulate desire and energy in people to be continually interested and committed to a job, role or subject, or to make an effort to attain a goal. Motivation results from the interaction of both conscious and unconscious factors such as the (1) intensity of desire or need, (2) incentive or reward value of the goal, and (3) expectations of the individual and of his Self-motivation is a form of self-encouragement. You tell yourself that you have the capacity to perform still better and surge ahead. This keeps you pushing further until you reach your goal. Two important reasons that employees should be motivated are to achieve their own personal goals and the organizational goals (Shanks, 23) Your inner strength says that you can accomplish your goal, so you work on it. This inner strength is your willpower - the guiding force behind your self-motivation. This willpower is the strength of your ego, aided by some form of self-discipline. It forms an essential part of your health, happiness and success. Self-motivation encourages you to plan goals and how to reach them.As your achievements increase, you are happier and contented.
