Reflective practice is important to the development of lecturers as professionals as it enables us to learn from our experiences of teaching and make easier student learning.
Teachers can analyse performance using tests or questioning the pupils after completing an activity. Plans could include differentiated classroom groups, built in review time. Plan to give pupils examples of a variety of skills, attitudes, standards and qualities to aim for. (b) the learners Peer and self assessment are activities that actively engage pupils with their level of understanding and the quality of their work and help them to reflect on how to improve. Pupils must be familiar with learning objectives, outcomes and success criteria and feel confident in how to interpret them.
Formative Assessment in tracking learner progress Formative assessment (assessment for learning) is engaged during a course or programme. This is the type of assessment used and it allows teachers to adjust targets and objectives to suit the student until they develop skills and become more confident. Formative assessment is usually informal (Formative informal) and can take place at any time during the teaching and learning process. Feedback from formative assessment will be beneficial to both student and teacher as it not only allows the student to recognize their success and look at areas for development but it allows the teacher to evaluate the effectiveness of their teaching and look to improve on future sessions. Formative assessment is often seen as being motivational as it can be seen as a review rather than an assessment.
According to Astuto, Clark, McGree, Pelton Fernandez, and Read (1994), effective educators demonstrate a level of expertise that surpasses that of a teacher that has just basic skills. This assumption falls under the reform view. These superior educators understand the whole child and reveal a level of professional expertise that sets them apart from others and improves student learning. The new teacher and principal evaluations promote the success of students. Through the evaluation process teachers are encouraged to growth professionally.
Test-taking, career-oriented, learning behavior, decision-making, and critical thinking are all areas in which I have strengths. I was able to apply this to my theory through the way in which class is conducted, and the students are assessed. DI and inclusion push for children to embrace their learning behavior and styles while helping them develop deeper thinking processes. Creating success and higher levels of thinking allow children to become goal orientated which will help them when it is time to choose career paths of their own. In my theory, an effective teacher must also be willing to change and adapt lesson plans based on the needs of the students.
Keeping records is a very important reflexive tool for both teachers and learners in the educational setting. Accurate records taken throughout a course enables both teacher and students to continually reassess the effectiveness of the teaching/learning relationship by giving an ongoing measure against which to view learning objectives. Records indicate whether pupils have learnt what has been taught and are making sufficient progress with the course; who needs more help or is ready for more extensive work by assessing better or worse progress than expected; and whether teachers need to refine any aspects of their teaching by assessing successes or shortcomings where teaching needs to be strengthened. Attendance data taken on a close protection course gives an idea of where students may fall behind with learning outcomes through non attendance. Identifying non attendance could indicate a problem external to the teaching setting which may benefit from referral to other professionals or could point to students’ dissatisfaction with the teaching style which could be addressed by reassessing the teaching methods used in order to promote more inclusive practice.
The key strategic purpose of the teachers is to prepare lessons to impart information and make them as interesting as possible to keep children engaged and to promote learning by leading discussion and encourage participation. They must ensure the classroom environment is supportive for all learners. Teachers should prepare homework and assignments to assess learner’s progress and feed that back to both students and families. Support staff roles refers to any school employee allocated to assist administrators, teachers etc. to address special needs within the school.
By basing knowledge on how children develop and learn, it can help make more developmentally appropriate activities.
