What is the best way to rehabilitate juvenile offenders so as to prevent them from turning to a life of crime? There has probably never been a moment in history when adults were not shocked by what they regarded as an unprecedented wave of criminal behavior among children and adolescents. Nowadays the incidents of criminal behavior among juveniles are increasing and the reasons leading to this increase are many and varied. To begin with, in my opinion, society itself may be partially to blame for increased juvenile delinquency and society itself has to come up with a solution to prevent them from turning to a life of crime. Starting with the highest authority of the courts, where the judges should designate one separation between petty and serious crimes. In that case minors, who commit a petty crime, could avoid prison or being kept in a juvenile institution. As a punishment it could be some volunteer job, which would be mandatory and would be supervised by somebody competent. On the other hand, in the case of serious crimes, in which detention is inevitable, some other ways could be used. First of all, minors should be educated in something∙ from learning an art, to graduating from a university. They have to learn what the proper behavior is and through learning it could be achieved. Furthermore, authorities and society should collaborate in order to help offenders discover alternatives. The former should find and create those specifications so as when the time comes for releasing, minors could implement any of the alternatives was given to them.
