Whereas other theorists have argued that is is the way we are brought up and influenced by our surroundings that makes an individual the way they are. Nature means the genetic and biological influences that affect our growth and development. The nature side of the debate believes that it is inherited factors which have more impact on your life and development. For example, the colour or type of your hair, your eye colour, the pigmentation of your skin, and also genetic diseases such as cystic fibrosis are all the result of the genes we inherit. These biological factors are said to determine an individual’s development and characteristics .
The nature or nurture debate is concerned the with the contributions of genetic inheritance, and environmental factors to human development. The nature theory says, although traits such as as eye and hair colour and genetics diseases are determined by genes, that there are also different qualities, for example, Intelligence, Personality, Homosexuality. Some others would say that, we learn or discovers all them above. We learn and improve our intelligences, we probably inherit certain personality traits from the things/people around us and some people may be curious of their preferences,
Discuss the nature-nurture debate in relation to Demi Lovato Key principles Nature - is the inherited or innate characteristics, features or qualities of an individual. This side of the nature-nurture debate suggests that we are a certain way because of the genes we gain from our parents. Nurture - is how the surroundings on an individual affect them, e.g. their environmental influences and conditions. This side of the nature-nurture debate suggests that we are a certain way because of the way we were bought up and our life experiences.
We achieve this “positive” self-regard by experiencing the positive regard others show us. Without this self-regard, we feel small and helpless, and we fail to become all that we can be. For example, if someone weighs a lot and his/her peers calls him/her “fat cow” everyday then, that person will have a low self- esteem about them self. Some people who are obese, is not necessarily because they eat a lot, it can be because of the disease, and if someone insult them or “state their negative opinion, it can hurt their feelings. We have to learn not to judge other people, because what is right to us may not be right for others.
M1: Discuss the nature-nurture debate in relation to the development of an individual. The definition of learning through ‘nature’ is that things that we know which are innate. These things are biologically caused and genetically inherited. The definition of ‘nurture’ is the effect of the environment has on our learning. The nature-nurture debate is all about whether genetics (nature) or our environment (nurture) is responsible for our behaviour and development.
2) Identify 2 areas in your life in which you lelieve your reasoning skills are weak and/or need improvement. One area that I am weak in would be that I tend to believe it is easier to just do something myself than to take the time to explain what I need or expect to someone else. I also am weak in that I tend to not listen to other people when I have my mind made up about something. 3) Identify sources of your beliefs and provide examples of beliefs gotten from the various sources. I would say that a major source of my beliefs would be from family.
Nature vs. Nurture Controversy Dawn D. Elkins Psychology 101 Liberty University What are my thoughts on the Nature vs. Nurture Argument? Nature, defined refers to the genes that people inherit, as in, the color of our eyes, the shape of our faces, and the coarseness of our hair. Nurture, defined refers to all the environmental influences, beginning with the mother’s health and diet during prenatal development and continuing lifelong, including the individual experiences with family, school, community, and society (Berger, K. Pg. 667). I believe that we are a beautifully crafted puzzle of genetic inheritance; however, I also believe that nurture plays a major role in a person life.
He uses phrases like “I’m going out to fetch the little calf, That’s standing by the mother. It’s so young. It totters when she licks it with her tongue.”, this is to show how he respects nature around him and he believes it’s sensitive and venerable. In this poem Frost wants the person he is addressing, to come, explore and enjoy nature with him. The cow in “The Cow in Apple-Time” also enjoys nature.
But what influences those things? What is Nature vs. Nurture? The Nature part of this argument is that people say that you are born with the traits you have. Meaning, whatever traits your parents have are split up some way and made a part of you when you are being conceived. The nurture part of it is that we are who we are because of the way that we are raised and the type of environment we are raised in.
