Kolby McNeal Harrington English B4 October 5, 2012 The Story of Odysseus Although Odysseus meets many of the epic hero, there are also distinctions which make Odysseus seem less than heroic. They say that because he seems just like any other hero although he was one of the greatest. The things I will be talking about in this essay is Odysseus accomplishments and highlights. Odysseus didn’t really have any troubles at birth, but he left home for the war at a young age. It is kind of cool because he left at a young age it doesn’t mean I want to leave at a young age, but it’s cool for him.

Amanda Jennings Hancock English 111-001 12 March 2012 Spiderman as an Outlaw Hero In Robert B. Ray’s essay, “The Thematic Paradigm,” he writes about American cinema and dichotomies within movie and film. Ray explains and compares the difference between outlaw and official heroes. Ray writes about how an official hero falls in the category of “good good boys” and how they embody the best attributes of adulthood (379). Traits of an official hero include, sound reasoning and judgment, wisdom and sympathy based on experience. Various examples of an official hero include Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln.
In the fantastical world that is Cyrano de Bergerac, there exists the type of hero that has been lost in the modern world. Although Cyrano feels the ache of a heart “so heavy with love [he has] not told”, and the forlorn anxiety that he would “die without telling [Roxane]”, he is still the most kind and brave of friends. Since childhood, Cyrano had been by Roxane’s side. With every opportunity of listening I will be mindful of creating a safe environment where clarity, understanding, and listening can take place effectively. More, important I should keep in mind how God listen to us. He listen to other with a love, compassion and caring heart. I want to do more listening and slow to speak. James 1:19 (KJV) says, “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” Taking the correct actions when listening will allow me to mend broken relationship due to lack of communication or listening skills.
He’s always there for me, and he’s a wonderful friend, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. He tells me that he’s not my whole life, and that he’s not the most important thing, but yeah he is he really truly is. When ever I talk to him everything that is bothering me seams to fade away like it was never a problem. And when I’m with him, he’s all I see. He’s the reason I smile, he’s the reason I hurt, he’s the reason I cry, and he’s the reason I never give up.
As a child, we picture these characters as strong, brave, and noble and this entire characteristic fill the definition of a hero in a child's imagination. If anyone asked me, what a hero is when I was a child, I probably would answer back saying it is Superman or The One Million Dollar Man. It is amazing how our ideas and the way we think change as time passes, and we age and mature as we grow, so our ideas of a hero change too. The hero of my past is not the hero of my days. Today as an adult I look back on the days I was a child, with no conviction's or knowledge of what a hero was; it was so childish a make believe.
What is a Hero? Today when the word hero is use most people go straight to thinking about a book written about some fantastic adventure like that of Bilbo in the Hobbit. What exactly is a hero though? Can it be defined or classified? The definition is: A person who is admired for great or brave acts of fine qualities (Merriam-Webster).
Definition of a hero In the dictionary, they define hero as a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great strength or ability. To sum that up, basically, a hero is a strong individual with outstanding abilities. To me, heroes are that plus more. I believe that a hero can be a person that is very selfless and loves to help out no matter what. You have heard of many super heroes growing up such as batman, superman, etc.
What Is A Hero? What is a true hero? According to Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, a hero is, “a man distinguished by exceptional courage and nobility and strength” (1913). Most people do not understand the true meaning of a Hero. A hero does not actually have to be a man.
