Also sometimes there was problems with continuity. You would notice in one seen there was a large stump on the ground but the next seen there wasn’t. It would’ve been better for the plot because she was a major section of the story and her genuine celebrity would’ve been beneficial to the overall movie. Each serves its purpose well; the steel frame buildings just do so with more flair. I like to think that only a good movie would still be watched after fifty-three years. But, everything good about the book is missing or distorted (plot, characters, details). The plot is too convoluted to make a movie. But the movie of The Big Sleep is still a success and, well, a good movie, just because they changed the plot and the characters.
It is unique for most film directors to do so, but for this film Spike Lee used his actors in perfect roles. I liked how he based the movie in one block so the audience doesn’t get confused from the story. The culture development in the film depicts how the development of modern culture struggled during their birth and corruption of such at that age would mean no culture today. There is more than just music to be learned from the film of Wild Style that is highly attractive even today. Many more people can learn from the characters that were used, their behavior and so forth. This after all is the purpose of creating films, to educate people about a certain subject that is familiar to the eye but understood differently by the minds.
What is the necessity for this change? The answer to that is actually quite simple. A movie of this type, without the potential threat of death, just does not earn quite as much. By creating a fabrication to the actual story, or its possible outcome, Bigelow can create an emotional bond between the viewer and the characters in the movie. It is this bond that is built throughout the movie that keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat, waiting to see what happens next.
Movie observers have their favorite kind of film they love to watch. By that, we disregard certain films because it does not fit into the mold of what we think a film should look like. We should keep in mind that all films will not fit our preconceived notions. To become a receptive viewer we must be willing to venture beyond the norm. If we do not succeed with the challenges that are thrown at us, then we do not grow as an individual. With Dr. Malcolm Sayer in the movie Awakenings, he has trouble with people. At first Dr. Sayer cannot face any challenge that requires him to interact with people unless it involves the things he is passionate about, such as work. Dr. Sayer seems to be a lonely man with severe social anxiety, he would much rather be at home reading or studying his plants than interacting with people.
