The Revolutionary War The Revolutionary War would lay down the foundation of a new free nation that would lead the world for many years to come. This war would be forced by a King that was 3000 miles away from American soil. There are many causes that led up to the start of the war. King George had forced this upon himself with all of his taxes and forcefulness against the colonies. There were many battles fought and won by both sides on many different scales. Also there were more than just the two main players being the American’s and the British. This war would be fought by allies all around the world. This was true in this war also and they were on both sides of the battle lines. Here in colonies we had Betsy Ross who made the very first American Flag. Kindig (1995) Benedict Arnold is known for being a traitor but he was also a very skilled commander and won major battle for the Americans before having a change of heart. Once that happened he had to escape to England or be hung to death. Benjamin Franklin was known for many things during his life, but he was the one responsible for securing the help of the French during the revolution. Marquis de Lafayette was a French soldier but he fought the whole war on the American’s side and as an aid to Washington. Nathan Hale was the most famous spy on the American’s side during the war. He was caught and used these famous words before his death” I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country”. General Cornwallis was a hard man even in the loss of battle he refused to give up his sword himself, and made his second in command give it up. When the aid tried to give the sword to Washington he said give it to my second in command if he cannot come out and present it…show more content…
I could have used an introduction that stated more statistics about the war and less facts. I feel as far as going into the base of the story, and which way you intend to present your information that is how you decide which angle to approach. For my paper I wanted to get facts out about why the war happened, and the war in general. By looking back into our past I feel we can learn so much and not make the same mistakes that we as a people have in the past. I think if I would take this introduction another direction it would lose some of its luster, and appeal to history buffs like myself. So I would not change one thing about the style that I wrote for the
