This was significant as it meant that in the times of potential danger for the PG, they couldn’t rely on the people to support them. This situation only got worse as the months went on. Although the PG were fighting in the war for a good reason, to ensure financial support from the allies, many of the soldiers were unaware of this and had little idea of what they are fighting for. Subsequently they weren’t motivated to fight, generally opposed the war effort and were a weak enemy to fight against. This was proven in June as they launched an offensive on the Germans in Russia; they suffered
Also with the France, Britain and USA not agreeing on the terms of the treaty made it even harder for it to end. Germany’s anger from the treaty came from a few of conditions which one wasn’t entirely true. The first of these conditions were that they were to blame for the war, this condition so bad that no man in Germany would sign it not even a soldier under direct orders. Also the amount of money that Germany had to pay back was very unrealistic ($6600 million) and would cripple their country for years to come. There were other factors that Germany thought that were very unfair such as their tiny army and the amount of land that was taken from them.
But when, because of their carelessness and laziness, ground drills and were abandoned. The army started to feel heavy to them since they started to hardly ever wear it. That negligence, and laziness, led them to asking the emperor to take away the breastplates and next the helmets. So when they went out and fought the Goths they had no protection whatsoever from the head to the chest, and were often beaten by archers. No one tried to replace the breastplates and the helmets.
Whilst I agree that the poor weather was factor in the suffering of the soldiers during the Crimean war, it was not the sole reason for their suffering; it was just another factor that made a bad situation worse. The main cause of the suffering was incompetence as a result of the poor organisation and lack of adequate preparation by the British Army. As the war had been planned as a 12 week rather than a 12 month campaign, the soldiers were not equipped for the conditions they faced during the winter of 1854-55. Troops had been sent out with summer uniform, tents were not waterproof or insulated against the cold. Balaclava harbour was very small and busy and the roads out of Balaclava were poor leading to great difficulties in transporting goods to the troops on the higher ground around Sebastopol.
This made it increasingly difficult as the harvest would suffer which would then cause a serious lack of food within the Kingdom itself, which in turn meant that the Fyrd would have very little supplies when called out and also affected all aspects of trade, and finances within the Kingdom. The Vikings could also simply retreat once the Fyrd had been called out. This had a devastating effect on the Saxon economy and harvest, as able bodied men were taken away from their jobs, while the Vikings had a constant supply of men and food from abroad. In comparison the Viking army were very well equipped and mobile. By the
He also writes "an ash-pile made by many fires". This shows that many men must have walked through this road to enter a lonely and miserable life, moving from ranch to ranch finding useless work. I think all the people living in the ranch are lonely. There are particular people in the ranch who have lonelier lives than others. The loneliest person on the ranch has to be Crooks, who suffers from extreme loneliness because he is black and he is living in a ranch and the surrounding area which is very racist.
Why Did The Central Powers Loose World War One? A key reason to why the Central Powers lost World War One is the military strength failures. Although Germany had a good defensive system, they lacked soldiers. Germany’s allies, Austria, Bulgaria and Turkey, were weak and Germany had to help them when attacked, causing most of the soldiers to be supporting them rather than fighting for themselves. On the other hand, the Allies had a good amount of soldiers and the popular support of their people.
In result of this, this cause loads of deaths. To conclude the actions from the officers were a very important factor in causing a high death toll in World War One. This was mainly down to their naivety, ineptness and how out of touch they really were. There loss of seeing things for how they really were, was another reason why there army lost so many of their men. In some cases it seemed the army were being sent in blind, as the officers refused to change their old fashioned
This was terribly inconsiderate of the military as the other 82% of the nation was left to starve as the military was the government’s top priority. This led to extreme cases of hunger across Russia which soon became famine. Food shortages were at their worst in the towns and cities, Petrograd suffered particularly badly due to the remoteness from the food-producing regions. Secondly, transportation was a key pre- existing war condition; it was the disruption of the transport system rather than the decline in food production that was the major cause Russia’s wartime shortages. The attempt to transport millions of troops and masses of supplies to the war fronts created unbearable pressure on the Russian transport system, and it bucked under the pressure.
A particularly good example of this was Germany when USA pumped a lot of resources into their area. The Berlin Blockade showed the contrast between East and West and it also exemplified the vast amount of money that was being put in by the West to build Germany back up. They had also been able to oversee the establishment of the new West Germany was a very politically stable state There was a lack of this in Asia, mainly because USA was not as committed to containing communism. They did send aid in the form of soldiers but there was no economical support in for example Korea. Although Asia was often an impoverished area and Americas belief that this was a common theme that allowed for the growth of communism there was a clear lack of economical support.
