The use of unnatural ultraviolet rays from tanning beds can lead to many types of dangers to the human body both inside and out. The debate over using tanning beds is drastically increasing across the nation as generations of all ages are now using these death beds. People choose this method of tanning every day, but fail to factor in the long term effects these massive machines cause. Tanning beds dangerously provide over exposure to ultraviolet rays, which are extremely hazardous, and new studies have shown they cause psychological tribulations. Granted, all sorts of cancer are life threatening, not usually preventable, and, in most cases, are provoked by unfamiliar sources. Even though sunburn might not seem dangerous, it only takes one fun day in the sun without sunscreen to enhance the probability of developing melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer (Welton, 2011). There are two major forms of skin cancer the body can acquire, melanoma and non-melanomas. Melanomas include basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and malignant melanoma (MM) (Young, 2004).According to UAB Medicine, melanoma is the fastest growing cancer because of tanning beds. Although malignant melanoma occurs at a lesser rate than basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma, malignant melanoma is responsible for more skin cancer deaths (Young, 2004).
